Roundabout on the estate.
I have noticed that all the roundabouts on R.M.W have had their annual tidy up and the one on the estate has been left looking...
I have noticed that all the roundabouts on R.M.W have had their annual tidy up and the one on the estate has been left looking rather untidy. Does the maintenance of this roundabout get paid for out of the same budget set aside for the open-space or does this get done from a separate budget. If anyone knows who is responsible for the up keep of this roundabout can you please let me know and if nothing has been done by Tuesday I shall try and chase it up with the appropriate department

I've spent the past few weeks researching the whole maintenance mess (that's why the minutes from the meeting haven't appeared yet, but they are on their way).
As to the open space 10 year maintenance plan, we aren't quite there yet with the research, but things aren't looking good.
I'll be emailing all of the Bankeyfields RA board in the next week hopefully with an update

Bryn ,All Is anyone up for a clean up party on the roundabout say Saturday or Sunday afternoon ? . I pulled ninto the estate on Sunday after a few days away and thought it looked an absolut disgrace. We can take along a camera get a few piccies send the to the sentinel and see if we can embarras our useles council. After all they have been and done it up twice in four years then let it overgrow what a waste of money.

Steve, let me tackle the council tomorrow I will give them a call to see if they are willing to tidy it up. I shall emphasise the fact that in the past 4 weeks kids have set fire to the grass on the open-space twice and that we as residents feel that they may target the roundabout next, as it is over grown and a prime target for any budding arsonist. If we get no joy then I think we should do as you have suggested.

Bryn, Good luck mate every time I talk to them I feel like I am going around in circles. Oh and has anyone got a petrol strimmer just in case !!!!
Spoke to someone from the
Spoke to someone from the council regarding the roundabout on the estate as we have not yet been adopted by the council he told me that the upkeep and maintenance solely lies with the contractor who built the estate. However he did say that he would look into the matter and call me back and steer us in the right direction regarding who to call to get the roundabout maintained properly. Until then our hands are tied, would the roundabout come under the same contractor who is responsible for the up keep of the open-space if this is so and anyone has his contact details please could you forward them to me and I shall chase it up.
Credit where credit is due
Credit where credit is due Mark from Stoke on call did get back to me this afternoon regarding the roundabout, the matter has now been logged with the Highways Agency and they shall be looking into it. He was told that they would chase up the contractor and request that they tidy up the roundabout. If nothing has been done by next Wednesday I shall phone the Highways Agency and ask for a progress report.
