CHANGE OF VENUE - NOW AT THE COTTAGE PUB, CHATTERLEY DRIVE

A bit of a cock up, in the planning department means a last minute change to the venue of tomorrow nights meeting. The even till now be on at the Cottage Pub, just around the back of the Cemetary, and within easy walking distance, aplogoies for any inconvience.

View Larger Map l be holding an emergency public meeting to discuss some  serious issues effecting this estate.

It would be a massive benefit to the community if they could find the time to attend this meeting as we are begging for your help to resolve a few issues.

In the past it's been fine for a few regular people to attend and help out, but this time the issues effect us all.

1. The lack of Adoption of our estates by the council or Seven Trent is now having an effect on not just the services we can expect from the council, but also selling our homes, and the possibility that we have been paying money to seven trent when they've not yet adopted our plumbing systems.

2. Open space maintenance contract - with in two years of a 10 year contract, the money has gone, we need people to come on the night to show us some support, and help us to raise awareness of this issue, and to do some thing about it. You've all had to pay extra on your homes for this money, so it effects you.

3. Crime levels are rising in the park and on the estate. Parents on the estate are proposing that we do something about it in the form of Parent Patrol, it's not a vigilantly group, but it is the about the estate being watchful. I'd be really disappointed if the parents of the estate at least didn't come along to find out what this is about, and if they can help, or even disagree with the plan.

In attendance will also be PC

In attendance will also be PC Glyn Talbot, our local community officer to talk about local crime and also give some useful advice on how we can better protect ourselves and also Councillor Megan Ryan, to update us on the latest issues we've been working on.

Hey up Matt what about people

Hey up Matt what about people off the estate that do not use the website how do we tell them of the change. If you have someone at the cricket club telling anyone that turns up the venue has changed they are going to be well pee’d off. If we have got to wait for anyone coming from the cricket club what time do you think the meeting will start.

Hiya Bryn. The tiimes are

Hiya Bryn.

The tiimes are still the same, the meeting will start at 7:15 at the Cottage, and I'll be waiting at the cricket club for 15 mins for stragglers, we'll leave a sign, and also leave a notice, and ask the other booking at the cricket club to pass the mesage on.

I know it's not and ideal situation for this to happen at the last minute.

When the fire engine is build and ready, we won't have these sort of problems.

Hi all, I have quickly found

Hi all,

I have quickly found out via the main switch board @ Severn Trent that the 'powerful' Edith Wood who doesn't seem to reply to any of the councilors emails / calls, does, as thought, have a manager:
Mr Peter Robinson
peter-andrew.robinson@severntrent.co.uk

Thanks
Sally

Great Write Up in the

Great Write Up in the Sentinel today, lets hope it does some good and hear that the meeting got a good turn out last night

According to the article we

According to the article we are worried about house prices dropping, I can't remember anyone mentioning house prices dropping during the meeting.

We are more worried about the services we aren't getting and the advice offered by Solicitors.

Sadly we can't say the same

Sadly we can't say the same about the write up, it doesn't just state once that its effecting houses selling & their value, but 4 times! it references this point through out the article. It seems to labour over this & the poor state of the area!:

1. 'Families say house-buyers are being put off the estate because they are pre-warned it isn't adopted'.
2. 'It would also make it easier for my neighbours to sell their homes and make me feel more confident in buying and selling on this estate in the future."
3. "A lot of people are concerned about their house prices."
4. '"The worst thing is houses aren't selling because of it."
5. 'The estate is 10 years old now and cracks are appearing on roads and pavements, yet we don't have anyone to turn to'

To state that roads & pavements are cracking is alarming to read to say the least!?... we haven't seen any evidence of this where we live at all, & will now struggle to dismay these comments to any prospective buyers who may have 'done their homework' on the area.

Its really hard enough to sell your home in this economic downturn, without PR of this nature.

Firstly thank you to everyone

Firstly thank you to everyone who came last night, and apologies to anyone who went to the cricket club after 7:20 as I'd left by then.

I know it was a long and heated meeting at times, but after waiting for so long for a lot of inaction, passions were on display.

I'd like to thank Cllr Megan Ryan and Martin Smitherman from the council for turning up, and taking the flack. The surprise visit from the Sentinel, who must be readers of the site (very honoured), and also The Cottage Pub for allowing us to take over the pub.

We got a lot of input from old and new faces and extremely grateful to Sally for her assistance and taken the lead on getting in touch with Seven Trent.

I've just had an update to say we'll be getting some news about Seven Trent (that's all I know) later on this evening, so I'll be posting it up here when I get it.

I hope it's good news.

Last night the issues of the Adoption and the Open Space money did dominate the meeting, but please if anyone wants to be part of discuss the finer points of Parent Patrol/Citizen Patrol/Residents Patrol what ever the name is, or wants to be part of or discuss the Speed Watch Scheme, please post up.

Update from Councillor

Update from Councillor Ryan.
I'll post details when I get the information in writing, however the gist is, from the councils point of view.
Severn Trent can't/won't adopt the land because the land across the road from our estate, below Focus as they haven't yet secured the land owners permission, and are trying to secure deed of grant.

Also the complaints to SOT CC have been passed over to Whimpy Taylor (for those of you who don't know, david taylor bought wilson connlley aka WILCON, becoming taylor wilson, and then whimpey taylor).
After more than three weeks they still haven't acted.

The chap in charge of our estates maintenance until the adoption is given the go ahead, is Stuart Gower.
