Hi Folks, Just an update. After leaving messages via this website and sending an e-mail to PC Talbot with no response I have now left a voice message for Glyn to arrange a meeting with myself regarding the setting up of a Community Speed watch on Reginald Mitchell Way.
I hope to hear from PC Talbot very soon, as its through the force that this needs to be progressed.

Appreciated Ian, even with one lane closed today I witnessed a lot of excessive speed travelling up and down Reg Mitch Way.
Not nice when you've got the umpa lumpas with you, and your trying to cross near the bottom to get to focus.

UPDATE:
Currently the request to start the Community Speedwatch has gone to Police HQ in Stafford. This involves securing the funding for training in use of the equipment and the process's involved.
PC Glyn Talbot is hoping that he will attend the training needed and role out to the volunteer's.
I shall update as and when there is any news.

I did notice the extra traffic coming down RMW this morning whilst waiting to turn towards the A500, just like when the roadworks were there and the extra 10 mins that it could take to get of the estate. More interstingly the extra traffic is already there and that's before the schools around here even go back.
Also - does anyone know why the A500 is shut tonight and tomorrow night?

I can only possibly assume that there may be a inspection of the previous works that have been carried out which would cause the closure of the road for that. Other than that....No Idea ?
Indeed, there seemed to be extra traffic on the A500 this morning right up to the Tunstall slip road, then it eased off a bit till after the Hanley slip exit.
Again, as I am sure you observed, Rach, vehicles entering the roundabout in excess of the 30 MPH and making it a very nervous exit from the estate.
I am hoping that in the end, as Matt is investigating, that a set of pedestrian crossings will be built near to the roundabout and perhaps with the introduction these can be automatically activated to red when the fire station is operating to aid the departure of fire and rescue vehicles from the Marlborough side of the roundabout.
This may, hopefully, as a visual effect, subconsciously slowing vehicles down approaching the roundabout and make this a much less hazardous part of Reg Mitch Way.
Once again the nice weather
Once again the nice weather is here, and RMW is turning into the practice course for bikers thinking they are going to be taking part in the Isle of Man TT races. If anyone else has to put up with the noise of these w***ers on bikes, please keep on phoning the police on 0300 123 44 55 and report them and if possible even give the reg plate of the bikes.
Lets hope the speedwatch program gets back on track and remove these people eventually from our roads.

These bikes are often riden by the over 40's with mid-life crisis's........Now, where;s the keys to my bike? I think Steve borrowed them last!!!! LOL

I have no problems with the responsible bikers, which are out there. It is just the ones who think they can ride with no due care and attention for other road users and obviously the local residents.

Hi D5314mcrat. I was adding a level of, and perhaps on reflection, a mis-judged, humorous comment. I totally agree with your original comments about the super fast bikers. I am a long time supporter of introducing some type of permanent law enforcement on this road, and a great supporter of the community speed watch. This road is a disgrace. I myself have been a victim of a driver on this road, which has left me with a bad back and arm due to an accident, which was not caused by me, but by speeding and not taking due care and attention of an idiot lorry driver. As for the community speed-watch program. What a joke. The Government say that there should be more community being involved, but then won't provide the funding and put every bit of red tape in front, as to make it so difficult. The council wasted money on so called improvements, and we still have the same problem. Its not just motor bikes, but motor cars that are all a problem. I am sick of this road and the 'roundabout of death' and having to run the gauntlet when using the roundabout.

I did like your last comment, and it does make you laugh as you say the amount of red tape that is put in front of you, to try and get things done. When I initially looked into the speed watch programs many years ago now, when the original NHW was running we were told by the police and the council that we could not have the community speed watch on RMW due to certain conditions after alot of arguing with them.
Now for the funny if not totally ridiculous reason that was given was that RMW is a dual carriageway and it is too dangerous of a road to stand next too, even though there is an unprotected footpath running along side it, so it must be ok to walk along the side of it on the path but not safe to stand there haha.
I have emailed our new councillor recently to ask him why does RMW become a dual carriageway only for the small section passing the estate etc and then back to single carriageway as they cannot give the excuse surely for ease of traffic movement as it is single carriageway from the A500 and also the tunstall northen bypass, so I urge everyone else to ask why is it dual carriageway if this has not already been done.
