A toddler could lose one of her eyes after getting a rare infection from dog mess in a park playground. Amiee Langdon put her hand down as she tumbled over, then wiped her left eye.

The tot, who was playing in a gated children's area in Platt Fields Park, Manchester, was diagnosed with a potentially deadly infection that could spread to her brain.

Hospital tests confirmed toxocariasis, an infection which is spread by dog dirt.

It resulted in optical lobe cellulosis, which can lead to blindness and even death if not treated within 72 hours.

If this doesn't get the

If this doesn't get the message through then I don't know what will. Time to let the poster machine go to press.

Hospital tests confirmed toxocariasis, an infection which is spread by dog dirt.
It resulted in optical lobe cellulosis, which can lead to blindness and even death if not treated within 72 hours.
Amiee, whose eye has been almost closed by the swelling, is being treated with three antibiotics at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
Her mother Suzanne, a nurse recovering from treatment for womb cancer, said she would be given a different combination of drugs if the first course fails.
If none of the drugs work, surgeons will have no choice but to remove Amiee's eye to stop the infection spreading.

Any dog owner that uses the

Any dog owner that uses the open space to walk and exercise their dogs please read this article and be mindful of the consequences of not cleaning up after your pet. Over the past few months things have improved on the open space regarding people cleaning up after their dogs but there still is a minority of people who do not and there is a small element that do take their dogs into the gated areas of the play ground and sports court. As adults we are all responsible for the health and safety of our kids using the park so if you see anyone in breach of these laws please do not hesitate to speak to them and ask them to scoop the poop and make them aware that dogs are not allowed in the play areas.
I would love to make a poster out of this article and place them around the play area but as we saw with the posters for the stolen bike they do not last and the kids just rip them down any way. The only thing we can do is spread the message through word of mouth.

I've created a quick poster

I've created a quick poster that could be displayed around the park, the open space, the entrances leading on.

Would any of you mind printing, laminating and putting these posters up in prominent places?

Hopefully the new sprayed on

Hopefully the new sprayed on templates should help to.

I posted some flyers to the residents who live on Summerbank road and back onto the park. On the way up between Harry Hancocks was just disgusting, because of the dog dirt.

It's not like the dog had run off and had a sneaky poo where the owner can't see it, this is in the middle of the path. The only way to stop this is through a £1k fine, or hopefully a poster that will make them think.
