Where in Tunstall 50 - Williamson Street Tunstall
To celebrate the 50th Where in Tunstall, I'm putting up the much sort after prize DVD of Tunstall Celebrating A Century on Film which was produced by the Staffordshire Film Archive. Remember it's just a game, have fun with it, try and find the image, and let me know. I'm going to change the rules slightly, for this one, as it's the big one, and I want as many people playing. You can ask questions, I might not tell you the answers, and to make it fair, I'll only reveal the answers in the evening between 8-9pm.
I've picked a wall, as Tunstall has hundreds of them, it could be a house, and alley, could be anything...
You know the rules by now, where was I standing when I took this snap. If you don't please read the rules
Steve Allen again gets my thanks for handing over his stash of Stoke-on-Trent DVD's for the Where in Tunstall prizes, Steve runs a hyperlocal website in Derby Spondon Online
The prize on offer is a DVD celebrating Stoke-on-Trent with old footage, this DVD "Tunstall - Celebrating a century on film" worth £12.99.
Please find the rules for where in Tunstall here
To play, you will need to sign up, and sign in, and post your comment beneath.

Some good answers, you are all checking out dark bricks in Tuntall.
Does anyone want a bit more detail adding to the photo tomorrow evening whilst you are watching good old x-factor, or do you want to keep hunting down these dark bricks?

I just walked passed tiand recognised it from the weed sprouting from the wall!!!!!!!. its the wall outside Staffordhire fine china at the back of ASDA.!!! The weed is looking a bit miserable now!! Im not much of a Historian, I
Im not much of a Historian, I dont enter this competition usually and I think someone else who enters regularly would appreciate the prize much more than me (my 2 1/2 year old son destroys most DVD's as they enter the house!!). So can we have a roll over please?? only fair I think!
Sorry for the delay, it's
Sorry for the delay, it's been one of those weekends.
Bedhair was the first one in with the correct location here, although phil.jam came back with the right answer as well, but with more detail (he even noticed the weed).
But, sorry Phil, I'm going to have to give it to Bedhair in this instance, although you never know, Bedhair might let you have a loan of the DVD.
Thanks everyone for playing everyone.
pffft!! lol

YAROOH YAHOOO YIP YIP
YAROOH YAHOOO YIP YIP YIPEEEE WAYHAYHAY. I am soooooo Happy to have won.
I noticed this wall a couple of weeks ago when I was walking up Williamson Street, 'cos of the glass shards on top of the wall ( illegal to do now, I think ), and when I noticed the glass shards at the top right of the picture I thought I would include the location, but I wasn't very hopeful it was the right answer until I saw Phil Jam's answer ( Sorry Phil Jam, you must be gutted
)
But, there is some good news, I will keep the video for a couple of weeks after I get it, and then use it as a prize the next time I put up one of my "Where in Tunstall" competitions, so hopefully everyone will be happy to have a second go at winning this prize.
Dear web sponkey.. U mesed up
Dear web sponkey.. U mesed up this time matey. Y our fave boy didn actually win your competition......according to your own trules and the rules of any simple website. But as well as the rules how could u be so deluded??? I ask your readers to look at the recent posts regarding your FAKE competition!!!! How can sum1 give a vague approximation of an area and even put "approx" in his description when sum1 clearly explained the exact location....have u not heard of google earth ould have had THREE guesses at it and hoped for the best. ( as Be3d hair has admitted ...he had no clue. I say this ...if u cant run a competition competently then dont bother!!!!!!.) My previous posts took everything in good taste but as ive learned that your members diont then stuff u all!!! if i can give a vague idea of a plece then id win wvery week but if im the only person to actually goto the place the picyure was taken, able to prove it the how do u explain urself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fun??? i think not!!"
The top of Williamson Street,
The back/side of ASDA, across from Washington Street, seems a fair description of where the picture was.
Listen, I've explained myself above, your answer came in after BedHair's. The comments are time stamped for everyone to see. I'm not asking people to go to the place in question, take a photo, and bring the proof back, I'm just asking "Where in Tunstall".
I'm assuming you've taken offence to bedhairs acceptance speech, but why then do you turn that into an issue with me? Anyway, I can't see anything wrong with it, he and several others have been nagging for ages about putting this prize onto the site.
I assume because Bedhair has played before and won some rounds (with out any prizes, ever being won) that makes him my fave boy. Try and keep it mature, you're not coming across great, and I'd take you more seriously.
Anyone else think the decision was unfair.
and ive been yto asda
and ive been yto asda today....it aint outside asda it was actually at the back ofv asda!!.. the street he was on about has FOUR walls!!!!! none of them the ones your buddy was on about as a guess from inside his house.... lets just all guess from our armchairs at everything and hop for the best!!!!!!!!!!!!111
Then I get a [edit] reply from one of your members?????? u doin web monkey!!!!????... (also sent to various web sites)
Well Phil, if they do come
Well Phil, if they do come and investigative your claims I hope they can judge for themselves mate. There's nothing under hand.
As for slander on other sites, I hope you can back your claims up.

I'm not running a bogus
I'm not running a bogus competition. I take peoples answers as they come, and if they are right I'll accept that answer. Just because your answer came in after Bedhairs, that doesn't make you the self proclaimed winner.
Feel free to report this to internet competition police mate, I'm sure they'll point you to their dirty guts runner up department.

I've just had a read of the
I've just had a read of the posts, and then checked on google maps, and you can see that where he says is where the picture is. I can't see how it's fixed. Your post came well after bdhairs, I can't see the problem, nor can I see how it's been bogus.Fair enough, I've not played that often, but I have been looking in on whose won, and I can't see anything underhand.
Did not know where to post
Did not know where to post this under lost and found or on this thread!!!
Found various kids toys rattle etc etc seem to have been thrown from a pram!!
Its only fun to bring activity to the site i thought.......

Whoa! what a sore loser, I'm with you on this Matt
LOL Gordy and thanks, thanks
LOL Gordy and thanks, thanks Nickatelle.
It's made me think though, with the rest of the DVD's I still have left, I might offer them as rewards or prizes for creative writing. Users submit their stories, but make sure they add the type-able category that I suggest at the time, such as "remembrance stories", and then the one that people vote for the most wins.
Hows that sound? Or should I do a bit of both?
Bit of both please Matt i'm
Bit of both please Matt i'm not into writing.
It doesn't have to be
It doesn't have to be creative, you could record what you remember your parents/grandparents told you from world war II or I or latter wars such as the Falklands, or when you see soldiers on the news in Afghanistan who engaged in the "war on terror" over there, how that makes you feel.
The real aim is to build a set of stories that people can relate to, but as you all know from this site, you don't have to be a journalist to write, it might be more basic and from the heart, but it's still worth recording.
Writing compo 1
Nah, thanks but I think i'll
