We have had the police call this morning and we have been informed of a break in on Mustang Close, apprantly around 05:30 this morning.
Access was gained through the Patio doors to the rear of the property and various items taken.
If anyone was out and about around that time this morning and saw anything then please report it to the police.
It goes without saying if you see or hear anything suspicious then please report it.
With Xmas coming up please be careful on what you leave on show either wrapped or not!

A big thank you to all
A big thank you to all involved with the mytunstall web site especially to residents who put posts on the site regarding anti social behaviour and suspicious activity on the estate. Having read this post about the break in this morning CCTV footage was checked and their was some good footage captured. This has now been passed on to the Police to aid them with their investigation. It is times like this we can all appreciate the importance of this web site simply by sharing vital information regarding anti social behaviour and suspicious activity we can endeavour to make this estate a safer place to live.

It's now the 12th, I was wondering if the people of the Bankeyfields Estate can start getting in touch with the Residents Association/Neighbourhood Watch via email, the site, or via the phone number.
If you ever need to find our contact details please type http://mytunstall.co.uk/bankeyfields remember add /bankeyfields to the end of the web address or in the menu, head for the groups drop down and click Bankeyfields.
As we said at the time of upgrading to the Residents Association, we will still be a Neighbourhood Watch area, but we can only keep that status if people keep us informed so we can alert the rest of the estate.

I think we need to have a discussion about this at monday nights meeting, because if incidents are happening in one part of the estate, but not the other and we can't put people on alert it makes a mockery of the NHW signs people have on the street and on their doors.
It's not just a way of getting your insurance down, it also needs people to make it work
Just thought I would let you
Just thought I would let you know that this morning it was apparent that someone had been in our back garden - garden storage box was left open, ornaments and patio furniture moved etc - nothing was taken but this is not the first time this has happened. On one occasion items were removed from the storage box (nothing of value, but not the point!) and left on the garden as they must have been disturbed by neighbours (they had lifted one of the fence panels adjoining our neighbour's garden and also tried to get into their shed). We live in Boston Close.

Hiya Janice
Thanks for the update.
Is there any chance you can round up support from your neighbours for Monday Nights meeting?
Can't be nice knowing that this goes on every now and then. Hopefully we'll be talking about security prevention on Monday night.

Burglar gets 3 years for a string of break ins.
Lee Simpson from Bond Street Tunstall had broken into a string of properties on the morning of the 11th November, including properties on the Hight Street, Parsonage Street, Mustang Close and also a number of car break ins.
Simpson who is a prolific offender had been released from prison in June in 2010.
Simpson's crimes were opportunistic not targeted according to his brief, and was witnessed on CCTV of one home owner as Simpson tried a number of doors and windows on a property on Spitfire.
Simpson was also high at the time on drugs. The judge said the crimes were so serious only a custodial sentence was appropriate. People are entitled to feel safe in their own homes.
Simpson will serve up to half the sentence with the rest on licence. Fifty-five days on remand will count towards the term.
