A detailed investigation into the incident is underway by detectives from the force’s Major Investigation Department
I hope that the City Council
I hope that the City Council can now find the cash to implement the Select Licensing Scheme for this part of Tunstall, as land lords need to start letting a lot more sensible and not just go for a fast buck.
If an area is being dragged down by an influx of lowlifes (sorry to use that word) by land lords not bothered who gives them their rents then the problem won't go away.

Wow what a comment, so
Wow what a comment, so following your assumptipon that is the lowlife who caused this and the councils fault for allowing landlords to let this property, it must follow that then..
The government must stop the owning of private houses by individuals, as we all know people like Fred and Rosemary West and Robert Wilson owned houses and many more who have commited murders do own houses..
Just because these 4 people were in a rented house does not mean they are lowlifes as you say...
I think you may find that some individuals who find themselves in rented accomodation have been themselves mistreated and or abused and have to turn to agencies for help to try to get some semblence of normality back in their lives...
I have worked with such people and wish to tell you this kind of assumption does not help these people intergrate into society.

That's not what I'm saying
That's not what I'm saying and you know it. The only lowlife's are the ones that murdered Andreas Fantousi, I can't see what else I'd call them, you want me to feel sorry for them and pat them on the back for what they did? They took a mans life, and left 2 little kids without a Dad. I could think of other names to call them. I'm amazed you want to stick up for them.
That area of town has a known problem of bad tenants before this incident making life miserable for the decent people who live there. The local council and police wouldn't be trying to have Selective Licensing implemented in that area for no reason would they?
Steve, Rich and Myself went along to a Tunstall North Residents Association meeting a month back and they are sick off bad tenants coming into the area over and over again bringing the place down. When they are fortunate enough to get a bad family moved out, if the land lord takes no responsibly who comes in next the cycle could go on and on and on.
I am not condoning the
I am not condoning the killing or sticking up for them, until we know all the facts i cannot believe you could be so judgemental.........
Do you know these people who committed the crime? Do you know the victim?
They took a mans life i do not know why or what happened, if found guilty i am sure they will be punished
I do not know the full circumstances of this tragic event, but to label them as lowlife because of their social standing i feel is wrong.

I'm not criticising all
I'm not criticising all people in rented accommodation mate, I've never said that. Your reading something that's not there.
I'm saying that the SLS will help to make sure landlords look for better tenants.
Those streets really need a breather from some of the things going on, and the SLS scheme will go some way to help that.

My mrs used to work on
My mrs used to work on Grindeys solicitors in Tunstall square working on crime.
I tell you, its shocking what goes on daily just a stones throw away from Swallows rise estate.
99% drugs related.
Mostly repeat offenders that the courts can't do anything with.
The courts have to justify sending a somebody to prison if they have kids, because of the impact on the kids and family life in the long term.
Can't fine them becuase they don't have jobs to pay the fines.
Can't cut their benefits becuase this impacts the kids welfare.
Once they know the system they have a free range. Scarey way society is going.
The poor kids grow up behaving like their parents, becuase they dont know any different. (My mrs now works in this area)
All thsi is no doubt contributing to some of the agro in the local play ground..
UK wide problem of course, not just localy.
Sorry for the doom and gloom
