Grit Bin for Hurricane Grove
In previous meetings we have discussed the issues of grit bins many times, ranging from last years farce where we had grit bins but someone had forgotten to fill them, so when the snow storms came it was too late, and grit was then being held back for roads.
Councillor Ryan had been involved in these discussion and please to announce that the Bankeyfields Residents Association has through councillor Megan Ryan secured an extra grit bin for the estate.
The bin will be placed on Hurricane Grove, one of the highest and furthest to travel to points on the estate.
Hopefully the bin will be put in place and filled before the snows come.
During the meeting it was stressed that these bins are for the use of roads only, not our drive ways.
Now's your chance to start looking at buying rock salt from DIY shops, so there is no need to take from the grit bins.

I don't know if we have an update on whether or not this new grit bin will arrive, but it hasn't up until now.
As for only using the grit in the bins for the road, not our driveways, since we don't actually have a grit bin up this end of the estate at the moment, how about people actually helping to clear a section of the road they live on infront of their own house? This would help everybody on the estate get safely to work and home each day, prevent the risk of cars parked on the roads being damaged as others skid on the compacted snow and give everyone a bit of fresh air and exercise. If everyone did a little bit, it would save the few that do go out and clear the snow having to do all the road just to feel safe when driving.
I know that not everyone on the estate is able to do this - but those that are physically capable could do their bit.

I had a reply from Megan yesterday:
"Hi Janet
I can tell you that your bin is on order and will be with you as soon as possible, unfortunatly I cant tell you when it will be here but I will chase it up for you. I did order it the day after I spoke to you, so hopefully it wont be too long.
Regards
Megan Ryan"
I spoke to Megan at the RA meeting on the 20th Nov, so hopefully, allowing 28 days for delivery - you never know how long these things will take, and yes, I know people like Tesco can do next day delivery - we should have the grit bin by Christmas.

The grit bin for Hurricane is there! I saw it last night whilst coming back from a much needed dog walk. It's right on the bend so perfect for Janet to grit that area from. Good result!
Shhh, we were keeping it
Shhh, we were keeping it quiet
It arrived last week, so I was able to use it the day after it arrived to keep the corner clear.
I did send Megan an e-mail to let her know and thank her for it.
Did anyone come and help you
Did anyone come and help you keep the incline clear?
I'd build a rock garden around it, and chain it to the ground.

Hiya Janet
Sorry I've not been back to you, I'm having a major computer issue at the moment, but I'm hoping to be back up and running next week.
You're very welcome, and I hope it does your street good.
