Warburtons has recalled some packs of its own-brand 6 Crumpets with a ‘best before’ date of 22 November 2010 and 23 November 2010, because the product might contain small pieces of aluminium. The Agency has issued a Product Information Recall Notice advising consumers not to eat the product.

The product being recalled is:

Product: Warburtons 6 Crumpets
Best before: 22 November 2010 and 23 November 2010
Batch code (the two lines of code printed next to the best before date): First line of code ends with 'W' and second line of code ends with '3'
Products with the above best before dates that do not have the two lines code ending with 'W' and '3' are not unaffected.

Warburtons has recalled the affected product from consumers. The affected product has been distributed within Yorkshire, Lancashire, Merseyside, West Midlands, North Wales and Greater Manchester only.

Product recall notices have been displayed on the company’s website and in the national press today, Wednesday 17 November 2010, explaining to customers why the product has been recalled and how they can get a full refund.

I'm not talking about stepping up the QC once the metals have been found, but improving the QC all of the time, that's what I mean by stepping it up.

wm and steve- stop arguing ,

i only came across this crumpet story by accident, so i think warbuton or any other company that have this sort of problem should make it easier to find out about it.
ive not noticed any posters in shops to say anything about this QC problem.
