Police have conducted a road safety operation on Reginald MItchell Way this afternoon between midday and 2pm.
22 Drivers found committing offences such as speeding or using mobile phone whilst driving, of which 10 were given verbal warnings, 10 offered speed awareness courses (which they have to pay for or face fine and points) and two reported for summons and will appear before magistrates in the next few weeks.
Officers are aware of the community concerns about speeding and road safety and will continue with further operations.

could i ask if you would do a road safety operation along on waterloo road, between burslem and cobridge lights ,
theres a large amount of people that use their phones while driving along there.
and theres loads of cars without road tax parked along the road too.

I've asked Mike if he's got any speed figures as well, but that's still 44 cars pulled over in 2 hours.
It would be good to compare that info to other places around the city.

I think you may have made a slight error there, Matt
The info you've posted is the same as the police put in their first message. It's only 22 cars pulled up in 2 hours - though 11 per hour means 1 person pulled over every 5 mins or so, which I would assume will be pulling another car as soon as the one being dealt with is allowed to leave. Scary that it it is so easy to catch people breaking the law.
