with the prospect of university fees going "silly money"£9000 a year and a 17 year old daughter that has high inspirations and her heart set on a 5year course at Nottingham vet school .
As a family we are thinking how can we afford these fees. and help pay accommodation
why are the Scottish and Welsh MPs voting for this for English students when in their own " houses" they vote that their own nations students do not have to pay these higher fees.
how can they say it fairer?

did you watch the protests
did you watch the protests on the news yesterday?
what do you think?
im ok with the peacefull protests that many of the students did , but for the anarchist gangs that went to do the damage and mayhem that took place much have been pre- thought out before the protest.
The Prime Minister said what was seen in the city was "completely unacceptable".
"Of course there is a right to protest peacefully, there always should be," he said.
"There is not a right to go on the streets of London, wanting to pursue violence and smashing up property.
"Seeing people swinging from flags off the Cenotaph and defacing the statue of Churchill - I think people going about their everyday lives in this country will think it is unacceptable."
Yeah, there was a fair amount
Yeah, there was a fair amount of outrage from both sides.
The girl swinging on the flag on the cenotaph disgusted me, so did the attack on the buildings, and the police.
But so to did the attacks by the police on the protesters.
A dirty day for all involved with the message of the march lost (was that the whole point of the initial police charges?)
What left me feeling the most retched was the fact that the Lib Dems, regained on another yet
election promise, bent over and took one for the Tories.
As to the debt the children of the future will own?
But the main point for me is this. The government haven't cracked down yet on the banks like they said they would. Now they are back in the profit again, those profits need to start coming back into the economy. Those at the heart of this situation aren't hurting like everyone else in this country.
I unfortunately am I student
I unfortunately am I student of the Labour changes in 1997. In 1998 when I went to university, tuition fees had just been introduced, and because my parents wanted me to have a strong academic education, they paid the fees to allow me to go. I stayed at home and attended Staffordshire University and graduated with a second class honours in Economics. The unfortunate situation was that my Dad alone earned more than the combined household threshold for income means testing which meant paying full fees. My parents had not budgeted for this cost but wanted me to benefit so found the money to pay for me to go to university.
My husband however wanted to attend university, but his parents could not afford to put him through it because he has 2 other siblings, 1 of whom was still at high school at the time. My husband decided to pay his own way through university and left with a 12k debt along with his degree in Economics to show for it. He will continue working to pay off his student loans until it is wiped clean when he reaches 55 years old. But to be honest, he says he would not have had it any other way. It taught him the value of education, hard work and financial prosperity.
Neither of us have high flying well paid jobs. We work hard for relatively comfortable earnings and take pleasure in knowing we did what was right for us at the time, and now we have a comfortable family life, modern house, and nice looking cars to show for our efforts.
I work in personnel and human resources, and my biggest problem is not finding graduates, it's finding suitably qualified people like engineering and maintenance people with solid apprenticeships behind them. This country needs a mix of people from various education levels to function. I am disappointed that the government took away the emphasis on apprenticeships and YTS schemes and decided that 50% of all school leavers should obtain a degree.
I would quite like to see unversities in the UK adopt an American style of university education, where people can obtain scholarships to attend by proving their abilities in some form or other.
Useless Degrees !!!!! This
Useless Degrees !!!!!
This may deter some people from taking waste of time degrees like Media Studies that are easy to pass just so they can put graduate on their C.V.
