FINALE EVENT POSTPONED - Saturday 4 December 2010

Due to the almost unprecedented poor weather and freezing temperatures organisers have made the regrettable decision to postpone the 2010 Finale event, due to take place in Hanley Park on Saturday 4 December. The event has not been cancelled and will now take place on Saturday 26 March 2011.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council deputy leader Ross Irving said: "Conditions in the park and in areas surrounding the park had become progressively worse over the past few days, with the forecast for more snow and freezing temperatures over the coming days. It was felt that organisers could not guarantee the safety of the public and therefore the decision was made by all parties to postpone the event on health and safety grounds.

"The centenary of the federation of the six towns officially runs until 31 March 2011 and the event will now take place in Hanley Park on 26 March next year. This is the last day before British Summer Time begins so we are hopeful that the event will be unaffected by snow.

"We are aware that many people were really looking forward to the event but we are sure they will be equally excited by the finale when it now happens in March."
