And now, a little delayed, the second part of the year...

July 2010

August 2010

This month proved the real value of this hyperlocal website, by warning people about the theft/mugging of a childs bike on the park, and other related issues.

I'll be posting the rest later, for now, I'm off to Funsters. (back now - cont..)

September 2010

The 106 money council fiasco, and  adoption saga sees the  Bankeyfeilds residents Assocation throws down the gauntlet to councillor Megan Ryan

October 2010

The fire station went live in Tunstall/Sandyford after what seemed a very short build, and I was lucky enough to go along on the grand opening.

November 2010

Snow came earlier than we all expected, tradgedy again strikes Tunstall with a second murder. The council annouce massive cuts to the city's budget after a reduction in government funding and a major £11 million overspend

December 2010

More snow, and more snow. Roads are gritted, part of the Bankeyfields Residents Assocaition's battles has been won. Good news for a local school, and Tunstall and Stoke-on-Trent wakes up to a terrorist threat.

When I first started this two part round up, I thought the year had flown. Going through and looking at each months list of articles disproved that.

In the most part, it's been a really bad year, in terms of the economy and the knock on effect. 2011 will be even worse, but I think that if communities can work together, share information and inform then we stand a better chance of having the wool pulled over our eyes, and I hope we don't get in a situation we are now in.

2011 is a very important year for Stoke on Trent, as May see's all out electiions for local councillors where it's down to us to to elect the right people for the job.

We need new blood. We need people who won't be rail roaded by the council's officer class, who will look at problems their electorate raise and will fight tooth and nail for them. I've also got issue with councillors who don't respond to emails, so the next lot of candidates for the new wards (or old if the bill isn't passed) will be facing a grilling during election time.
