Have I started something here, a few days after my blog about Wilcon plumbing, Web monkey wants the name of a plumber. I have not used them, but a big name in Tunstall is Brendon Fern, he is on the chamber of commerce or such like, he can be found in Paradise, just up from tower square.
Surely on an estate this big, there must be plumbers who will give good service, I would reccomend myself, but I only do radiators, showers ( dont get me started ), and outside taps.

I'd love to be able to do-it-myself but I don't know my a**e from my elbow when it comes to plumbing (Electrics, Simple shelf putting up, etc and so on) . I'm good a putting my finger in drill holes that are leaking, and I know where the stop tap is, but thats about as far as it goes.
Judging by the state of your radiators Sharkey, if all the houses radiators on Swallows Rise are to suffer the same fate as yours then I'd better learn very quick, or find a local plumber sharpish.

If you have a problem, give me a call, I am sure that what you have done to this website, there will be loads of DIYers, waiting to give you a helping hand, I can bring my ex cat litter tray to stop drippings, I have bought a house from new before, you get use to their failings, I was stopped by a friend who hd to replace his shower, I am on the third one before I realised the original plumber had done it wrong. I wanted when I started the NHW many years ago, that people with certain skills helped others, and vice versa, I find some people do not even speak to their next door neighbour, make a plea if there is something wrong, I am sure someone will help.

He's a plumber, Corgi Registered Gas man, Electrician, and he does a bit of joinery too. He's a friend of my neighbours, he fixed my boiler when it picked up the standard Potterton fault and he's also installed an outside tap for me.

Martin is one of the reasons I needed a number. He did a job for me, passed some work his way, waited for him to come back to us. Then chased him like mad and he never came back. He did a good job, just didn't think he was reliable
well after 7 years my Barrett fitted shower has given up and now leaks constantly. I've even had a Bristan engineer out to replace the thermostatic cartridge but it still leaks. "sorry love - that'll be £80"
So Dear Reader's, please could anyone advise a name\number of someone who is qualified of either changing a shower valve (body) or installing an electric shower
my Barratts installed shower has finally given up - it leaks constantly from the controls. Even a Bristan engineer couldn't stop the leak after changing the thermostatic cartridge and as it's over 5 years old it's out of warranty.
So please could someone advise if they had their shower repaired, replaced or updated recently. I'm able to get hold of a replacement valve but need it fitting
I've used Brendan Fern a couple of times and found them to be very good and reliable, they even charged me less than I was expecting the price to be (which was a very pleasant surprise), so I can't reccommend them highley enough - see Sharkeys post for their wherebouts.
