Have heard from a relative

Have heard from a relative that Bathpool park comes under Newcastle BC and they are aware of the situation. For some reason they are sending a Welfare Officer out to speak to them to see if there is a valid reason for them staying (ie one of them is pregnant and about to give birth or they need to be in the area for education reasons). If they are found to have a "need" to stay there, they may be there for some time! Will keep you posted if I hear anymore.

Update - council plan to evict gyspies

Proceedings have started to evict gypsys who have moved in at a Bathpool park east car park.

A gang of caravans arrived in the car park area of Bathpool Park, Chatterley Valley early last Tuesday.

A Newcastle Borough Council spokesperson said: "A notice was served last Tuesday requiring them to leave the site within 24 hours. They are still there and we are now starting the legal eviction process. The case will be heard in the county court as soon as possible."

Charlie Neeson, former chairman of Talke Pits Residents Association said: "It looks as if the taxpayer will be facing another hefty clean-up bill once they have left the site. This area has had problems in the past with travellers and I'm sure it will happen again."

It must also be troublesome to the owners and marketers of the Blue Planet warehouse as the landscaping nears completion and prospective purchasers looking around.
