Reginald Mitchell Way

The Northern Area implementation team are coordinating a site meeting to look at ways forward re the speeding and problems of entry and access to the estate from RMW (date to be confirmed) Member of team will attend the next meeting (Monday March 1st @ Rifleman Public House

Sgt Marcus Ferns attended from Northern Neighbourhood Policing Unit and will feedback to the group on feasibility of a Community Scheme Watch project at the next meeting

Alleyways /Bankeyfields Park and Open Space

Reports of a group of young people drinking in the alleyway running from William Coltman Way to Regninal Mitchell Way - support request for intervention. The alleyway is full of litter smashed bottles and cans.

Open Space

  • Evidence of drinking at the park and reports of youths very late at night on the park up to 1pm
  • Residents raised the issue of dog fouling on the streets and the open space
  • Litter and dog bins are not been emptied regularly
  • Open Space grass is not cut and landscaping seems to have ceased

Roundabout

Roundabout at the entrance to the estate

The roundabout on the entrance to the estate is an eyesore it’s very overgrown and requires more manageable landscaping It gives a poor impression of the estate.

Questions for the AIT (Area Implementation Team)

1. What can be done to resolve the issue of ASB and young people in the public spaces on the estate and what do the residents need to do to help?.

2. Can we have the signs re dog fouling on lampposts around the park and estate?

3. Can we have the footpath spray/stencil for hotspot areas? Could NW committee members do this

4. Can the grass cutting and emptying of bins be put on a regular rota
Could we be considered for/ included on a RESPEST action week

5. Can the roundabout at the entrance to the estate be landscaped in consultation with residents via the Neighbourhood Watch?

6. Can the Neighbourhood Management team forward a paragraph introducing themselves their role and how they can help and contact details?

7. Request for site meeting to discuss Reginald Mitchell Way

thanks

Grass cutting

I agree with Steve, well documented.
On the subject of grass cutting, the councils contract with the openspace (£100.000) over ten years, requires the meadow grass to be cut 2 or 3 times a year, the lawned areas, 4 or 5 times a year, but do not quote me on that as I have been unable to find their contract. I would keep our MP Joan Walley informed of what the NHW are doing, either by email, or attending her surgeries, full details on her website, the reason for this is that on her last visit to the openspace, with the new fire chief, and asked for council attendance, the grass was cut hours previous to her visit.

Alley way clean up, Reginald Mitchell Way litter pick.

Hi Bankeyfields

Just to let you know the William Coltman alley way has been cleaned and a litter pick on Reginald Mitchell Way has been carried out.

If anyone is passing the park can you let us know if it's been cleaned as well.

Drinks

Think Popeye owes you a few drinks. You managed to take notes , number actions and get the actions carried out despite his best effort at humor humour during the meeting.

I like that...

I like how you said Popeye....

Meeting

I know various issues have been raised and some now have been resolved, this is mainly credit to Jo, she has the contacts and the know how, but also the skill and determination to get these actions logged and resolved, but we also have to give credit to all those whom attended and raised the relevant points.

That is what it is all about making it a safer cleaner and nicer place to live for us all.

Humour me i thought i was very well behaved and the model professional....

Thanks to all it is nice to see something getting better that benefits us all..

Well done Jo. Can someone

Well done Jo.

Can someone remind me of the date of the next meeting?

Perhaps we could operate a community "donate a shrub" project to get the roundabout landscaped?

Popeye, model professional is the only model you will ever be Big Grin

Glass in the park

AS mentioned by Ade in the link below

http://www.bankeyfields.co.uk/forum/bankey-fields-forum/brown-snow_09-02...

The park and surrounding area is still littered with glass. In fact it looks like it has had a fresh covering, and the burnt out coat is still under the toddlers climbing frame.

Looks like a new layer of glass has gone down to. As Ade says the problem will just continue until something is done to catch the offenders (same with the dog poo)

keep on emailing the council

WM
Keep on emailing the council it will pay off eventually. Is there any way you can set up an auto mail that fires off the same mail every day/hour until you cancel it. If we all did that I am sure the council would do something.

Alternatively you could get the Jovos to preach on the play ground that would keep the yobs away. Every one else as well but its a start.

Web Monkey's picture

Can anyone document the park?

I've got to go out shortly so I'm running out of time. But if any one has a digital camera would they mind documenting the glass and poo in the park?

If not I'll have a crack tomorrow morning.

Bit late

WM Sorry read it late yesterday and was late finishing work today. The Mrs says I take poo photos so I should be a natural.

No Problems

Hopefully the councillor and the AIT manager got to see it today for themselves to see how bad it is.

Nipped up at dinner time

Hi Steve

I nipped up today.

The park is in a dreadful state, there is so much small chunks of smashed glass.

I did get questioned by two ladies who wanted to know why I was taking photos of the park's floor.

They must have thought I was a right pedo.

Once I explained they suggested we get a park warden.

Any way check out
