The big clean up - volunteers needed (29 March)

The Neighbourhood Watch Team (namely Jo) have acquired some tidying equipment for this Sunday.

She's been able to get a Petrol strimmer to get the grass cut on the embankment.

10 Grabbers and bags for litter picking.

All we need now is residents to a) let us know where the rubbish is and Cool we need people through out the day.

If you know how to mow a steep embankment with a petrol mower, or want to see the streets and open space cleaned up please volunteer.

Please let your neighbours know.

Please register your interest with a post onto this page or on the contact us page

Many Thanks

Matt

We'll be trying to clear the glass out of the park and open space if we get time, but the embankment will take some time, and well we've got the mower we need to get that grass cut.

no one cleaning up this morning!!

went to the open space with two helpers this morning but no one was there, so ended up staying a while, well until a yob on a motorbike sped up and down the path!!!! at speeds of 40mph, any kid or pet could of qiute easily been killed, i could nt believe my eyes....oh nice to see the open space is improving (laughing sarcastically), so i left for my own and the kids safety!. If any police or authorities read this then get your act together please!!useless waste of space the lot of you! bye....

Yob!!!!!

I'd like to second that!!! Went for a walk in the open space with my girlfriend and baby boy today to be faced by this idiot pulling wheelies in front of me.... If I'd have been on my own, I wouldn't be sitting here now writing this, I'd be sitting in a police cell.... Probably wouldn't have been wise, but that's how angry I felt!!!!!!

Clean up

Just looked on site saw the clean up was today. Thought it was for next sunday 5th April as discussed at the last NHW meeting.. There is no date or meeting time posted on the site for the clean up. Is it still on for the fifth? Is the next NHW meeting still on for the 6th?

Steve's picture

6th is correct

Yes the next NHW meeting is the 6th. The big clean up didnot happen. Just a small one me and a bin bag.

cleaning up

Went to the playground this morning with little un's and picked up the empty alcohol cans/ bottles left overnight in the playground. Consisted of 1 litre of vodka, four cans of carling (all half empty- what a waste!!), three cans of pop, a packet of wine gums!!?? and one pint of banana milkshake. So did my bit of s spring clean. Quite why the locals clowns can't put in the bins i will never know. Ohh and a smashed bottle of vodka by the climbing thing as best I could. (the sticky label held it together well).
We all need to do our bit and pick the litter up and not leave it for someone else and make it tidy. Esp as the whole area will be used more now the summer nights are with us.

Come one everybody!!

Park tidy up.

Scooby - I thought the park looked clean. Appreciate it as it would have would have made my job a lot harder today when I took my brush to the park.

I had my little boy spot glass for me (he knew not to touch), I'd say we got about 95% of the glass inside the park, but there was so much of it, we might have missed some.

As we tackled the park, a father/kids (SIMPSONS) team were working around the park/open space area collecting rubbish. Making good use of council supplied litter grabbers by the looks of it.

We only had one reply to the call out, who took on the paddock this afternoon.

Ade, the reason no one met you this morning was we didn't know you were helping out. Sorry if you feel like you wasted your time, but if folk had come back we could have made a plan. As it was we've all done our thing. Maybe next time. Is anyone interested, it's still messy.

Big thanks to everyone who helped today, we've made a small difference, and also shown that we don't want rubbish on our park.

Broken Tree

Some one pointed out a broken tree outside toms tiles. I'm amazed it's survived this long. If we have any tree experts can you check to see if it can be saved?
