Write a letter to your councilor
Dear Councillor,
I am a resident of the Bankeyfields estate in Tunstall, and am becoming increasingly concerned at the speed with which traffic (including heavy vehicles) approach the roundabout which leads onto our estate. It is not uncommon for me to approach the roundabout in the morning rush hour, and be greeted by vehicles which appear to be travelling at up to 60 MPH, not understanding that there is a residential estate feeding onto the roundabout. That some appear not to even slow down to negotiate the roundabout adds to my fear and frustration, especially given the speed limit which operates for this stretch of road.
The addition of the new developments along the Reginald Mitchell Way is simply going to add considerably to the traffic problems we encounter several times each day. That the fire station is also to be placed here would strongly suggest that you must consider both traffic calming measures, in addition to measures to allow freer movement of traffic- for the emergency services to get caught in such fast moving traffic every time they need to attend an incident will have critical consequesnces for the safety of many thousands of our city's residents.
I would urge you to experience the problems we face, first hand, on any weekday morning or evening, and would be grateful of your urgent attention in this matter.
Yours sincerely
