Monday, 12th of April the police were called out again after the young people drinking and doing what ever in the park decided to start to trash and vandalise it again.
Again the police were called out to deal with the problem after local residents complained about the park and bridges being trashed.

I've just rang the council for another clean up
Yet again we've had more bottles being smashed around the park. My wife took the kids up for a play, and although the park didn't have much glass in it, the pathways leading to the park were covered.
I've phoned the council for another cleanup, and asked them to flag it as antisocial.
We need all drink to be banned from across our cities parks, and heavy fines for anyone caught in a park with booze.
I also think we need curfews placing on those caught abusing our public spaces. I understand the need for kids to meet up and socialise, but right now, it's not local kids in the park, it's the dregs congregating in the park, and the problem needs sorting swiftly.
If you see or hear anything in the park at night; don't hesitate to ring 0800 561 5610 - which is the councils anti social hotline. They'll deal with the call. There is a special police car, whose only job is to deal with situations like this, so your not taking officers away from their jobs, it's what they're meant to do.
Leave it too late, and the damage will be done.
yobs
Just to make people aware.....
After returning from my holidays i was met with a few of the neighbours telling me of the "YOBS" Behaviour.
A group of 12 -14 youths were causing havoc in the street, throwing the bricks off one of the gardens and at the windows of the houses next to it.
One of the youths had a tag on and also had a hammer. The police were called. They had names and addresses off the youths and escorted some of them home, but they were seen on the road later that evening.
That sounds awful sk1650 -
That sounds awful sk1650 - not only what they were doing initially but the blatant disregard for the actions of the police seeing as one was already tagged and that they were seen again later the same evening.
As a matter of interest where abouts on the estate do you live .. just a rough idea not your address lol!!
Personally I have noticed since the lighter nights an increase of groups of teenagers loitering around the estate in gangs of 4-6 until about 11pm - just wandering around and around not getting up to mischief as I could see.. has anyone else witnessed these groups/were they just wandering or up to no good?

Yes we live on Hurricane
Yes we live on Hurricane Grove.
As for the group of 4-6 youths, i do have some sympathy for them, as there isn't much for them to do, and if they innocent and just 'hanging around' with their friends, the youths which do wreck the place give them a bad name! Its hard!.
Don't know what the solution is! Just keep an eye on it at the 1st sign of trouble, report it, so the police have evidence and are able to do something.
Just had a debate with my other half and he disagrees with me, he says it is an issue that youths are bored and that they should find something to do, bike, football etc. He says it is just laziness!
Thanks for the reminder
Hiya Emma
I was falling in the trap of thinking all kids that go on the open space are to be treated with mistrust, but, that's just not the case.
The Kids drinking and tearing up the open space seem to be a new lot, and one of the knock on effects of this could be that they've pushed our kids back onto our streets, away from the worst trouble makers.
I also think your both right, they are bored, and I do have some sympathy for the behaved ones. But there are plenty things they can do themselves, and if they want help, all they've got to do is ask.
The Bankeyfields Residents Association is here for all ages (when it's finally up and running - until then the Neighbourhood Watch is in full force) and would welcome ideas in which we can help our kids. There are grants available that we can apply for, so if any of our ideas involve money to back them, lets consider them, and look for a way of funding them.
As I was taking the kids to
As I was taking the kids to the park tonight, I noticed a load of green glass in smashed in the street, so it looks like the problem is spreading out of the open space, as Em said above, and into our streets. More panels have also been kicked out.
But then again, what do we expect. As we up the park, a delightful family were up their, scoffing on all sorts of snacks, and swigging on cans of larger and wine. With a bin just meters away, over went a load of wrappers.
When one of the ladies many kids - each named after a pop start, and xfactor person fell off the climbing frame and really banged her head, I had to get her attention. I didn't see she said, that's because you were sneaking a swig of your super strength larger wrapped in a towel to make it look like a baby, you stupid moo.
Thanks must go to aspire for lumbering our Gaelic friends up on Summer Bank, The Tunstall North Residents Association weren't kidding when they said they had some real problem families.
And no, I'm not been a snob, I just have an intolerance to ignorance and scummy chavs.
