Basil Brush Empties Park Bin

By

If you go onto the open space today you will notice that there is a lot of rubbish around on of the bins by the sports court. Late last night there was a couple of foxes on the open space, having spent a few minutes checking out the play area they decide to investigate the bin, they thoroughly enjoyed the left over KFC but did not enjoy the beer. Council Let Down

Steve I for one would like to see more wildlife on the open space as it makes a pleasant surprise to post a comment on this web site that does not relate to anti-social behaviour. I hope the foxes were well on there way home before they had to answer a call of nature because I am not sure who is responsible for cleaning up fox poo. LOL. However I think this shows just how ineffective the council is at dealing with complaints regarding the bins being emptied on the open space. At least three phone calls were made at the beginning of last week regarding this problem and they are still full. Big Grin

Me to

I like to see the wildlife, I posted a few weeks ago that there seemed to be less foxes and housemartins than last year. Which leads me in to a rant. Cats they are for lazy pet owners as they do no need to be excercised. Just open the door and they can go into anyones garden make thier mess kill the wild birds and voles. If you have a cat put a bell on its collar so it cant go around killing wild birds etc.Oh and my garden is not cat friendly Devil

Hog Watch - National Hedgehog Survey

What is happening to our hedgehogs? Says the UK conservation website hogwatch as evidence suggests that hedgehogs are declining at a very rapid rate.

How serious is the decline and what’s causing it? To find out PTES and BHPS are carrying out a nationwide public participation survey of hedgehogs called HogWatch. The aim of HogWatch is to create a map of the distribution of hedgehogs across the UK. Hedgehogs are not found everywhere.

For example where conditions in the countryside appear unsuitable for them they seem to be clustered in and around villages. In some regions they are clearly found in more places than in others. Many of you get hedgehogs visiting your garden and we would like you to let us know if you do. We would also like you to look out for hedgehogs in the wider countryside.

Wildlife Schemes for Kids

I think it is a real shame that we do not see the wildlife in and around the area as we once did, from hedgehogs, field mice, voles, butterflies and certain species of birds. It’s a shame that an area of the open space has not been developed to encourage wildlife, and then perhaps we could get the kids on the estate to participate in any wildlife schemes such as Hogwatch perhaps this could give the kids something to focus on during the holidays. I wonder if it's something that Summerbank school would be interested in?

open space bins

Just been on the phone to councilor Ryan explained the situation regarding the bins on the open space she has assured me that she will make the necessary enquiries. She did also mention that due to the swine flu there are a number of departments short staffed resulting in a number of services falling behind. Silly

Bins Update

Having made some enquiries regarding the bins on the open space councilor Ryan has been assured that the bins have been emptied over the past two weeks. Her colleague seems to think that a member of the public may be dumping household waste in these bins, which I find a little odd. I think her colleague may be a bit confused due to the fact that a lot of the rubbish in these bins is disused beer cans and alcho pop bottles. Which to me highlights the fact that the park in the open space is a popular meeting place for under aged drinkers or the group of adults who regularly use the sports court for a game of football and need to replenish lost energy with a 24 pack of Carling? Call Me

Or maybe her colleague is

Or maybe her colleague is still somewhat confused after suffering a bout of swine flu. Besides, is it acceptable for these bins to be emptied every 2 weeks during the summer months. Not convinced the defence stands up to much, guv.
