Burslem Arts trail - a weekend of art, food, drink, family fun and shopping in Burslem between 4 – 6 June
Arts Trail comes to Burslem
Over 60 venues are being added to the Burslem Arts Trail map ready for the weekend 4th-6th June, mixing together a great range of exhibitions, themed walks, restaurants, cafes, pubs, fun family workshops, shops, music and open studios.
The streets of Stoke-on-Trent's Mother Town will become a giant canvas and the weekend will include:
- Friday night: exhibition openings adding to the usual bars and restaurant that makes Burslem a great evening out.
- Saturday: activities and workshops throughout the town from Wedgwood Place on the North all the way along Nile Street to the Moorcroft Visitor Centre, with hubs of arts and crafts around Market Place and Queen Street. The town is also expecting to welcome visitors from around the world for the Robbie Williams Trail. Entry to Ceramica in the Town Hall is half price for the weekend.
- Sunday: enjoy live music in Swan Square, browse artistic talent around the town’s windows and explore the area a little wider; maybe enjoying the walk to the Canal Festival around Etruria Museum.

Printed maps will also be available in town.
With something for everyone to enjoy, come along and enjoy a weekend of art, food, drink, family fun and shopping in Burslem between 4 – 6 June.
The Burslem Arts Trail is made possible through the generosity of businesses, organisations and individuals giving their time and energy to fill Burslem with reasons to visit. We’re almost wholly reliant on the internet, word-of-mouth and local media to let people know about it, so please help us spread the word to your family and friends from near and far.

Right just getting the kids
Right just getting the kids ready, then we're off to check out the arts festival.
I'd just like to thank
I'd just like to thank everyone who worked damn hard on the art's trail, and even though I only saw a tiny bit of it, both my kids and myself personally got a lot from it. Can't wait for more events.
I'm hoping that the People of Tunstall can start looking at what the good folk in Burslem are up to and make more of our past and future. They are using the fact that Stoke-on-Trent is a very creative city to their own benefit and restoring pride back into a town that like Tunstall, has been declining in the past few decades.
Thank you for this comment.
Thank you for this comment. One of the things I think surprised us about doing it this time was how much we could do without any funding, although more resources would definitely have helped us put more on and market it more offline. We were nearly wholly reliant on people helping us by promoting it on websites and by email and the printing of the flyer we did do is being funded by small donations (all welcome!). Although we're very hopeful we can find more money for it in the future, grants are only going to become harder to come by so it's worth towns looking at what they can pull together even if there's no money to support it.
It was lovely to see more going on and more people on the streets than you'd usually find on a Saturday in Burslem (you think Tunstall is getting quieter!). People were peering into shop windows and noticing places in a new way, it's great for the empty shops. The Trail event is easily replicable and myself and I'm sure other members of the group will be more than happy to help our friends in Tunstall if they want to put on a similar event, we'd love to see it spread across the whole city. Any excuse to promote our towns!
You have an asset in the artist Neil Twemlow, who I met for the first time during the weekend, he's a Tunstall lad. I loved his work. Hopefully some photos of his work and him painting in Market Place on Saturday will be put online soon...
