Can anyone shed any light on a plaque found near to Brown Hills School Tunstall?
Plaque from the past sparks information appeal
Stoke-on-Trent City Council is appealing for information on a plaque found near Brownhills High School.
Made of brass, the plaque has the following inscription:
THIS TABLET IS ERECTED AS A TRIBUTE BY THE COMMITTEE AND MEMBERS TO
ALDERMAN J CHORLTON
WHOSE VALUABLE SERVICES CONTRIBUTED SO MUCH TO THE
SUCCESS OF THIS CLUB
HE WAS VICE PRESIDENT 1915-1923
PRESIDENT 1923-1948
POSITIONS WHICH HE HELD WITH
DISTINGUISHED ABILITY
Countryside officer David Butler found the plaque during maintenance work near the school and is eager to find out where it came from.
“We are not sure if it has been removed and lost, thrown away, or even stolen,” says David.
“We are concerned though that it may have been taken and just left here, so if that is the case we really want to make sure people who care about it can get it back.”
Anyone with any information about the plaque should contact David Butler on 07771 501242.
