Chatterley Valley will be a truly carbon positive development
I was looking for more info about Chatterley Valley when I came across this press release from gazeley - the preferred developer for the industrial park.
Sounds like there is going to be a lot of national press coverage when this is built the coming months, as it mentions some key buzz words that send the press in a spin, such as "carbon positive".
I also found this article, which needed a bit of translation
http://www.gazeley.co.uk/news.asp?sid=347
"This pioneering project won by Gazeley following a tender for Newcastle under-Lyme (West Midlands) will be the first site to carbon positive on a surface 46 000 square metres."
"It represents the most successful project in terms of logistics warehouse that the group sustainable development since 2002."
"Site energy producer, Chatterley Valley will include a series of complex environmental technologies and innovative which will not use that 45% of energy required to operate a platform such as: the establishment of a station supplying biofuels l Electricity and heating necessary to the site, photovoltaic panels ETFE material, production of kinetic energy, etc."
I'm excited about the prospect of having this project just down the road from us. I be interested to hear what everyone thinks about the development.

New development
I agree, it seems that if they are serious of making this a benchmark site, then they will fully plan the site out, rather than throwing up warehouses, which lie empty,I wonder if BT have plans for a carbon neutral telephone exchange, it would solve our broadband problems.
I have read somewhere, that
I have read somewhere, that the power plant will run on rapeseed, enough for all of chatterly valley, and 650 homes, can I find it to post the link
Found it
Blue Planet Chatterley Valley will be a truly “Carbon Positive” development – the complex will have its own bio-fuel micro power station, using rapeseed oil, which will produce sufficient power and heat for the on-site buildings and a surplus that will provide enough energy to power up to 650 local homes.
