Bankeyfields Estate Christmas 2009 Tunstall Police Update

Hi Everyone.
Just a quick update to keep everyone informed of just what is happening in the area, and what's been going on over the past couple of months.
The estate has suffered very little reported crime to be honest. We've had a couple of parking issues, and a few complaints about youths causing a nuisance on the park, but other than that (touch wood) we've been OK.
We've served several ABC contracts to youths in the area (Acceptable Behaviour Contracts - which are pre ASBO warnings) and this has helped to curb their behaviour. We've also increased our anti social behaviour patrols to combat youths causing problems, and this has helped reduce calls, not only to your area, but to others in Tunstall.
As the Holidays approach, just a quick reminder to be vigilant to strangers on the estate, people who look out of place or suspicious, and if you think someone or something looks wrong, then call us.
Either call the switchboard 0300 123 44 55, or in an emergency, call 999.
Make sure all your doors and windows are secure, especially as (and most of us do it) presents are often left under the Christmas tree, and can be viewed by opportunist burglars.
That said, and I don't want to panic you all, but burglaries are very rare, and as long as we are all keep our eyes open, and report matters, we can stay safe and crime free.
Please email me with any issues, but remember, please call the switchboard or 999 if you see or hear anything suspicious.

All well and good Glyn, but

All well and good Glyn, but how about doing the same on the "Hill" where the youngsters congregate drinking the booze they have bought illegally from the various outlets intimidating the passers bye.

To be fair

To be fair to Glyn, he was just referring to the Bankeyfields estate with this email, not realising how quick the site is growing, in terms of reach.

However it would be good to get the Polices input into other areas of this town as well as just one estate.

As some of you might be aware, the Greenfields RA is setting up home on the Bankeyfields website as a place to communicate and easily get messages out to a wider audience.

This offer is open to all local Resident Associations and Neighbourhood Watch groups in Tunstall and Sandyford/Goldenhill.

Nows a good time for people to come out of the woodwork, sign up, get posting, and start working towards improving our communities.

In reply to previous comments, I didn't realise that the website was growing to include other area's, so sorry for that. It's a great idea to expand, but I'm sure it creates a lot of work for the administrator, so thanks must go for the hard work put in...
In reply, you will note that the figures for the area as a whole show that crime, in almost all categories, is down by over 26% at the moment. Now, I know figures are all very well, but how does it translate to our area in general.
As scarlet points out, youths are the biggest concern voiced by the residents of Goldenhill and Sandyford, and this has been taken seriously - after all, there's no point asking what you want if we don't address it. We have increased our anti-social behaviour patrols, and now have a dedicated patrol from 6pm every night to deal with just that. The car is on patrol throughout the Tunstall area, but is rarely diverted from anti-social matters, and so can be on scene very quickly. This has resulted in many youths and children being spoken to, warned, and even arrested for their behaviour.
As a knock on effect, we then send out letters to parents, speak to youths at their schools with teachers, and even issue ABC's (acceptable behaviour contracts, where the youth concerned, their parents, Police and other agencies have a meeting, and a contract is signed to say that the offending behaviour will stop. If it doesn't, then we can start on the road towards an anti-social behaviour order - ASBO).
The other, and more beneficial effect, is that the behaviour stops, and things get a little better for all of us.
Obviously, I don't have a magic wand, and things won't go away overnight. We can't be everywhere at once, and I would ask, once again, that residents call us with any problems, so we can address them as soon as possible.
The non emergency number is 0300123 44 55, and obviously, in an emergency, call 999.

Congratulations on the website once again, and hope you all have a great Christmas.
Glyn

Why don't you write to the

Why don't you write to the magic circle to obtain a magic wand? I'm sure it would be effective in you endeavours as a crimefighter. In fact, you might want to ask for two in case you lose one. I also think that you should all wear super hero costumes as this would almost certainly frighten the local yobs away from a life of crime.

I wasn't being sarcastic. I was really trying to help in this fight against crime. If all the residents on the estate would chip in, the police could get a magic wand for all their police officers.

Dungwirt - warning

Dungwit - as well as being a little bit weird on your posts abouts images, birds and police updates, you are also coming across as obnixious and disrespectful.

This is a family and community site, were we try to poster were we can a positive community spirit. Your contributions today have been pointless and to be fair worthless.

If you want to contribute something sensible or positive then do so, otherwise I'll close your account. Consider it your last warning.

However take heart, you did post one thing that was funny, your gag about your first heckler, that made me chuckle.

Anyway, you'll have to let us all know how your bedsheets get tonight, I hope they don't get to soiled!
