Community payback comes to Sandyford/Goldenhill - local people responded to calls to vote.
Back in March Ian Morris posted onto the site, about how we can vote on which areas the community payback clean up crew can tackle.
Again in april, the people of Goldenhill and Sandyford were urged by Tom Simpson, Secretary of the Sandyford/Goldenhill Residents Association to take action, and ring in their votes.
The good news Goldenhill, won out of the five ares in Stoke-on-Trent to challenging to be the first area to benefit from the Community Payback Scheme, with 208 votes out of the 590 votes cast.
Other nominations were Uttoxeter Road in Normacot, Berry Hill, Northwood and Birches Head, and Fenton Garage on Park Lane.
Work between Elgood Street and Heathside Lane will begin today.
Tom Simpson said: "We want to put some pride back into our area."

Brilliant result
Well done to the Goldenhill/Sandyford residents association on their win.
I'm amazed at how few people voted across the city though, only 580 out of a fair few thousand.
well done you all
excellent news, shame we all had to vote for it but nice one to all that did
