Congratulations to Michelle Ross Cope, on being awarded Sentinel/City of Stoke-on-Trent Sports Personality of the Year
I had a pleasant surprise today whilst dropping easter eggs off today, when I popped into the Copes today.
Last night at the Sentinel sports awards, Michelle was please to annouce that she'd bagged one of the top awards.
They also gave her a life size cardboard cut out to keep the burgulars away to.
Congratulations to Michelle, and Family, may the success continue.
"Michelle Ross-Cope also enjoyed a stellar year as she represented Great Britain in the World Half-Marathon championships in Birmingham, and set new course records in the Trafford 10K, Wilmslow Half-Marathon and the Stafford 20-mile road race.
The 37-year-old also completed her first London Marathon, finishing 34th place just three days after the funeral of her father David.
Earlier in the night, Ross-Cope, from Waterhayes originally from Kidsgrove, was edged out by pole vaulter Steven Lewis for the Senior Individual award. She Ross-Cope dedicated her award to her late father David.
She said: "I know my dad is looking down and feeling very proud of what I have achieved.
"I didn't expect to win the award, it was a surprise, but I am delighted."
