At a recent Tunstall and Burslem  Residents Association, one of the RA chairs asked for a glossary of terms, as acronyms were being thrown around left right and centre, and the non police/council people present were looking a little befuddled.

So, for my own and other peoples benefit, a every growing glossary of terms.

  • ABC - Acceptable Behaviour Contract, of which there are three levels.  They are voluntary contracts for young people aged between 10 and 18.
  • ASBO - Antisocial Behaviour Order.
  • AIT - Area Implementation Team - a council body looking after a certain area.
  • Local Centres - For local authority tenants to make enquiries about their tenancy.  Local Centres used to be called Area Housing Offices.
  • FRET - Fast Response Education Team.
  • PCA - Parental Control Agreement.
  • ISA - Individual Support Agreement.
  • YISP - Youth Inclusion Support Panel.
