Crime Alert in Stoke: More bogus officials targeting old people
On Tuesday afternoon, (8th June) there was a bogus official type offence In the afternoon in Richmond Road, Hanford. Two men called at the home of an elderly lady claiming that they were from the council and needed to check the water. She allowed both men into the house. While she was with one of the men who fiddled with a tap in the kitchen, the second walked off. He went into her bedroom and stole a sum of money from a chest of drawers.
Unfortunately the victim can give no further information e.g. a description of the offenders.
Over the past few months there have been a large amount of Bogus official crimes in the City of Stoke on Trent targeting old and vulnerable people in their homes.
Please advise elderly persons of this incident. In particular warn them that the first place any of these offenders search will be the bedroom where money is often kept in the top drawer of a set of drawers frequently in a biscuit or chocolate box.
