Christmas Crimewatch

Dear All.
Once again thanks for the calls regarding the recent burglaries. As you are all hopefully now aware, a burglar was caught and has since been charged. This was, in part, due to the calls from residents after seeing someone simply "acting suspiciously".

I would ask that this good work be continued over the Christmas Holiday period.
If you notice anything out of the ordinary, give us a call. If your neighbours are out, or at work, and you see someone looking at their property, give us a call. Never leave things on show either in your house or your car - oportunist theirves will take advantage of this at this time of year.

And remember, never be afraid to call 999 - if you need the Police because you believe a crime is happening or about to happen, CALL US!

Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Non emergency number question.

Hiya Glynn

You know the Non emergency number, 0300 123 44 55, when should we use this number?

Would you use it if a minor crime was happening, and if so what would you class as a minor crime.

For example, when the horses broke out earlier this year and got onto Reg Mitch I phoned 999. But I did worry in case I was using precious time up. If you know what I mean.

Matt

UPDATE: Answered Here - http://www.bankeyfields.co.uk/forum/crime-watch/when-use-999_08-12.html

My interpretation would be

My interpretation would be to use 999 if a crime is currently in progress, or if life is endangered- I would also have dialled 999 when the horses got out, as a horse meeting a car at the speed some of them do on RM Way....

And you wouldn't be wrong!

And you wouldn't be wrong! Quite rigthly, a horse meeting a car could be disasterous, and so we would expect a call first, and 999 would be the correct number to call.
Again, I must stress that you will never be critisised for calling 999 if you believe that the matter you are calling about needs immediate attention.
Thanks
Glyn Talbot
