POLICE officers are appealing to people to report any sightings of a missing mother and her child.

Anna Skrodzka and her one-year-old daughter, Camill, went missing from their home in Jefferson Street, Tunstall, on Saturday.

The 28-year-old, who is Polish, took personal belongings and her passport and was seen leaving the house in a black people carrier-type vehicle.

Detective Sergeant Steve Colclough, from Stoke-on-Trent CID, said: "We consider Anna and Camill to be vulnerable and we are becoming increasingly concerned."

Anna's neighbours have told The Sentinel she moved into the mid-terrace house with Camill and a man they believe to be her husband four or five months ago.

They said she always made an effort to speak, even though she didn't know much English.

One couple, who did not want to be named, saw her packing things into a car just before 5pm on the day she went missing.

The woman said: "She kept herself to herself, but always smiled and spoke.

"I saw her packing the car up with a white man. They were talking to each other in another language.

"She had boxes and wicker baskets and the baby's cot so I thought she was moving out.

"I think she went of her own free will, because everything was packed up.

"I hope she is safe, and the little girl too."

Another neighbour said: "She got into the car with a gentleman and waited for a little while before they went off.

"A policeman knocked on our door on Monday and her husband has asked if we have seen her."

Fellow Jefferson Street resident Edward Ford, aged 45, who is unemployed, said: "Someone came in a van to bring furniture to them a while ago and knocked on my door thinking they lived here.

"I don't really know them but I hope they are okay."

Anna is described as white, 5ft 7in tall, with a slim build.

She has short, straight hair which is dyed ginger.

Her daughter has curly, dark brown hair.

Anyone who has seen them or has any information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 0300 123 44 55.
