Over the past few months the fly tipping situation at Harry Hancocks has increased with builders rubbish continuously piling up.

As you can see from the photos taken on election day, the place has become a mess and more seriously, some of the items left have enabled kids in the area to build make shift platforms to climb on to the roof of Hancocks.

On the boundary of Bankeyfields openspace, the fence has been kicked in, and a growing amount of beer cans has started to appear. More recently a sofa dumped at Hancocks was moved down to the Football/Basketball court to help kids relax more. Other items tipped have also started appearing in and around the openspace.

The owners have made Hancocks safe in accordance with council guidelines, and has been certified , but the local Fire Service is not happy, as their concern is for the safety of fire officers, who have been called out on numerous occasions to put out acts of arson. Is a burning Harry Hancocks worth the life of a Fire Fighter.

The building also has a damaged asbestos roof which is also giving some residents cause for concern. Next time your passing around the back take a look at the state of the roof on the front section of the building.

The council at this point can only serve notice for the land to be tidied by the owner who has a legal obligation to clean up the rubbish tipped on their land. So much for buy cheap, sell high building bought in 2007, and has been unsellable since.

Both the Bankeyfields Residents Association and the Tunstall North Residents Association will be working together to try and push for the mess to be cleaned and looking into further action.

Shame the police don't have a tipping safety camera scheme - they seem happy sitting at the side of the roads, but dumping rubbish seems to be a free for all.

As a group you can do nothing, if you are brave enough to approach someone doing it, then good luck to you.

This should be a police and council matter and should be monitored as closely as someone doing 34mph in a 30mph area.
There is a small windy road that comes out near McDonnalds in Tunstall, and there is a lot of waste dumped on a daily basis - surely someone should be monitoring this?
Each morning i drive past and it is awful - tyres, tables, you name it and it is dumped there.
