Traffic wardens are cracking down on motorists who park illegally while doing their shopping.

Police have asked Stoke-on-Trent City Council to ensure its wardens target illegal parking at the junction of High Street and Shelford Road (Shop) after years of complaints.

The problem is caused by motorists parking on double-yellow lines or over driveways, instead of using an official car park, while going to a parade of shops in the area.

A police spokesman said: "We have issued several fixed-penalty notices, spoken to many drivers and are asking parking officials to patrol areas of concern.

"These officials have scheduled our area into their regular patrol and there has been an improvement in the parking problems."

If that's the shop near

If that's the shop near Macdonalds that's got its own car park that some people seem not to want to use, then that's great news. Whenever I pop up there there's always someone parked right by the shop door, at the end of the road, which causes all sorts of obstructions and hazards for people coming out of the car park, out of the road junction and trying to pull into the road junction. There always seem to be parking spaces available too, these people seem to just be being lazy and not wanting to park up properly.
