You got me all excited then for a minute then, and all of the unhappy thoughts came back.
When we moved in, in 2001 Will-con told us that there was going to be a pub built (they also told us we'd be in the house for September - which really meant end of May, and they'd be around to fix things but that never happened too.)
Please tell me your serious, I'd love a pub near by, where I feel like I'm not walking into the slaughtered lamb from "American Werewolf in London".
I was told that it was listed on one of the huge signs by the road, advertising what was going to be there i.e. 3 billion square miles of soon-to-be-derelict warehouses, and a pub. But I could be wrong - please don't get excited on just my word.

I took my boy Kieran for a walk on Saturday and we ended up down by the Harecastle tunnel and we got talking to the lock keeper.
He was tutting at the tourist narrow boat driving, at this point the conversation turned to tourism and beer. He said that the next pub was the Bulls head (red bull lights), which is about 2 hours way (by boat) and that there was no where for boat uses to have a nice drink.
He then mentioned that the chatterly valley telly tubby park would soon be having a pub, he had no further details, but it's a second source to supply this info. I've contacted Andy Bird at Advantage West Midlands about this and other things and he's yet to answer he email from about 2 months ago.

When the application was first put in i had a look over it, and on both sites it did not mention a pub...and i clearly looked at the plan...the landscaping is amazing but defiantly no pub !
My only concern is that it might be a chain pub it being in by an industrial estate and all that, but I suppose I shouldn't get too snooty. As long as they don't let hoodlums in and sell good beer, I'll be happy.
If we find out the date of when it's due to open, perhaps we could get a countdown application on the site homepage?
In the original planning application, it gave outline permission for a drinking establishment, pub, hotel, or restaurant, though it was very vague, if they brought all the ideas they had together, this would make sense, ideas such as railway station, hotel/conference centre, this would link up with the canal on this side of the Harecastle tunnel for tourists, but then again, the fire station has gone quiet, and there is no mention of a new police station recently.
Could you imagine if a rail company, a large hotel company, British waterways, the police, along with Blue planet all got around the table, all could have benchmark, carbon positive/neutral premises, close to the M6 corridor, what a vision, forgot to mention BT, they would have to build a state of the art exchange run on rapeseed power. Instead we will probably just get warehouses that will be left empty.
If the hotel was built close to the canal side, there would not be a rush to get through the tunnel, to the pubs on the other side. A company could then be set up to offer boat trips to the new Westport lake visitor centre, easing traffic and car parking at Westport, also tourists could then visit the Middleport pottery museum. OH well, it is time to wake up now.

I think the "The Wind Swept
I think the "The Wind Swept Pony" would be a good name for it
Speaking to the lock keeper of the Harecastle tunnel and he said

We'll just have to wait and see.
I don`t think this is true...

I have a dream
