How do I report repeated speeding offences without any physical proof.

It's frustrated me for a long time that the same old cars abuse the roads on the estate with speeding or driving using mobiles.
But if I went to the police about it, what would I go with. You can't convict someone on hearsay.
I know there are a few police officers on the estate, so could you tell me what action I should take to report these motoring offenses.
The final thing I can write here is just to plea to all motorist who do speed on the estate is to please slow down before you kill or injury someone.

This is a difficult one,
This is a difficult one, some areas have people trained by police to monitor speeds, they wear Hi vis jackets, and have speed guns, but you run the risk of the driver getting out of their car and lamping you, it would be a good question to ask our LPU to clarify what can be done, and how to go about it.
Speeding Vehicles
The reply from Sharky is right, it is a difficult one, but not one that can't be addressed. All you need to do is supply the details to Police, either in person or anonymously to Crimestoppers. We can then log the information on our system, and do any follow up enquiries that are relevant. If the informant wished to go to court and give evidence, then there is always the posibility that a complaint could result in a prosecution at court. This is not always the case, but I would ask that any information, about this or other matters, is passed onto Police.
Thanks once again for your enquiry.
Mobile phones
I had someone nearly run me off the road yesterday, as she was too busy on her phone to bother looking in front of her.
Did you get a funny look like it was your fault!
Hi Lawrence, did your potential grim reaper give you a funny look like it was all your fault, or you were over reacting?
It's like hands free was never created with some people.
It's easy right.
Step 1. Drive down to hanley, park your car, and vist one of the many mobile shops in the potteries. Try to do this with out making any calls.
Step 2. Take your phone and pounce on one of the sales assistants before they can pounce on you.
Step 3. Explain you want a hands free device for your car. They'll try and sell you a £100 in car kit, tell them not to be silly and sell me a plug in head set, not blue tooth one with a wire.
Step 4. Plug the hands free head set into your ear an dyour phone - taking great care to get them the right way around.
Step 5. Before you drive off, ring some one, and then drive, or wait until your calls finished, and then drive, Remember it's like talking to your passenger, with out having to take your eyes off the road.
Step 6. Leave your head set in the car, they are only tiny and cheap so they can be wrapped up and stashed some where safe, and because they are cheap, they aren't worth nicking.
Step 7. When driving on the estate , slow down abit, keep your eye out for other cars, children and the road.
Road bliss in 7 easy steps.
The same funny look when people have to slow down
I bet you got the same look as I mentioned in a previous post, what are law abiding people doing on the roads.
Neither...
Fortunately the noise of my wheels grinding against the curb as I tried to keep both on the road and away from her wasn't loud enough to interupt her call.
Name and shame?
What was the Car, make , Model colour? Which road where you on?
Naming and Shaming
Is this the right precedent to set?
If we start posting people's details on the net, things could get out of hand. What's to stop malicious reports being made, or heated arguments started, etc etc? What other options do we have? I must admit I don't fancy knocking on people's doors and making accusations. I'm not saying that naming and shaming is the wrong thing to do, I just want us to be agreed that this is the right thing to do, and that things don't risk getting vicious down the line before I go posting details...
Any ideas?
Know where you are coming from
If you know the person, have a quiet word, no need for solicitors, I must be living on a different estate, everyone around me talks to each other, even the chap who I mentioned in my blog about the alarm going off, at least he was concerned to come out and check, and I have said I would mention him, he is fine about it, if it did get to the police, they too would have a quiet chat with them, no names no pack drill, if you get in touch with crimestoppers, this can be totally anonimous.
