Sandyford Fire Station
Plans were shown to residents and the facility was discussed in detail, we may have use of this facility for future meetings. We are awaiting an electronic copy so we can post artist impressions of this.
Building work is scheduled to start end of September and will take an estimated 12 months to complete
Police update
No reported issues on both estates however they continue to monitor the playing fields. The fun day was hailed a great success and if possible we could have another in the future.
Thanks were given by Glynn to all those who participated.
Reginald Mitchell Way
The council have now given us plans on the proposed improvements to the junctions, these have been posted to al residents with a questionnaire, although apathy towards this was very high!!!
Thanks again to those residents who filled the forms out and thanks to the people who collected them in.
Bankeyfeild Open Space
Ground maintenance has now restarted, the machine was broke by the length of the grass!!
This was due to be continued when a suitable machine was found.
Megan Ryan would chase the situation of the small roundabout.(this was cleared and planted on the Wednesday)
Thanks Megan
Aoption of Land Update
We are awaiting the outcome of a meeting planned in the near future, we will of course update this site when we have news.
Residents Association
Pauline Withington gave us information regarding on how we could move forward to form a residents association, she gave us a Residents Association Model Constitution Guidline, we will in the future discuss this fully once we can fully understand the implications of this step. However we will need to have certain positions filled on the relevant committees, and we would need people to give their time fully to make this viable.
We intend to discuss this further at future meetings and we would ask anyone interested to attend or let us know of their interest in supporting this.
A copy of this document will be posted on the site as soon as we receive this form from Pauline.
AOB
A resident asked if it could be possible to have a childrens section on the site, this could be in the form of a chatroom???
The date of the next meeting TBC
Thanks to Sandyford Cricket Club for the use of their facilities.

Reginald Mitchell Way
Under the Reginald Mitchell Way info it says all residents have been sent a questionnaire - I certainly haven't received one - were they hand posted or sent through Royal Mail? Can anyone shed any light on these letters.. did YOU receive one/when?
Reg Mitch Way
Zoey we posted them through letterboxes ourselves please accept my apologies if you were misseed and if you send me a private message with your address i will ensure you have a questionnaire posted through, this also applies to anyone else who did not have one posted through.
Sorry again
Thanks
Gordy
Can I have one
Hi Popeye, can I have an electronic version if you have one, me and my neighbours would really want to fill in the questionnaire.
Also, have you got an electronic version of the plans.
I put a low res scan of the plans onto the website a few weeks ago, but it wasn't the best.
do you have a electronic copy I can put on the website.
questionaire
we didnt have questionaire either
QUESTIONAIRES
A number of people including myself who attended the NHW meeting took the time to post the questionnaires around the estates and then attempted to collect them. The apathy that appeared was unbelievable. Some people could not be bothered filling them in some looked through through their windows and then did not answer their doors and some people said they had not even read them. I dare bet these same people moan about RMW but sit on their bums and can not even be bothered to fill in a simple form never mind attend a meeting to improve their safety and that of their families, rant over
Bankeyfields motivate yourself please for your own benefit
Fair point Steve, The people in the NHW do a lot of work, we've writing to the council, building relationships with the council and the police, the press, to try and get something improved.
It's also disheartening when you don't even get the support of your local community who we are working hard for, to back you, just by putting pen to paper.
The old NHW people said the same thing over the park, saying they gave every body the chance to respond to what they wanted, but when it was built everyone said, why have we got this equipment and not that.
Furthermore, the Neighbourhood Watch meetings are for everyone to attend, that's why they aren't held in someone's house, but a public place, you don't have to speak at them, but it would be nice if people voiced their views. Just by showing support would be a start.
Just out of interest, how much of a response did you get back?
However, can I still have a copy just so I know what questions were being asked, it's always good to log the processes we've been through up on the website for future reference.
Cheers
Matt
On its way
Copy on its way to you Matt. Jo had all the completed forms. Think I am correct in saying they were returned to the council last week.
Copy of plans and questionnaire
Copy of plans and questionnaire now online (cheers Steve) - see above.
The NHW team only had a couple of days to get the Questionaires to as many people on the estate as possible, and get any completed copy back the next day.
Thanks to everyone who took part, both delivering and collecting and filling in the forms.
Hopefully the council won't take into the account the poor amount of returned copies as a sign of there not being a problem, and like Steve says it's just down to apathy and a good night on the telly.
Bankeyfields web site / Neighbourhood Watch
When I first moved to this estate two years ago I was very skeptical about the neighbourhood watch, I thought I am only 39 this should be something that I should be considering when I have retired. As the months past and all the work had been completed in and around the open-space I became more and more frustrated with the amount of people coming on to the open space and abusing all the hard work that residents, councilors and other members of the public had put in. This was in the form of people exercising their dogs and not cleaning up after them (dog poo). Teenagers abusing the park, under age drinking, smashing bottles and being a general nuisance, adults abusing the sports court using it for there own entertainment kicking the younger kids off so they could play drunken football.
Whilst living on the estate I have found two things that have been invaluable and they are the Bankeyfields web site, because you can browse this web site and find out all sorts of things from what’s happening in and around the open space to reading other residents concerns as to what is going on in the area, you can post comments, raise issue’s and sell things. It is a well run site and the people who maintain it are doing a great job, long may it run.
The other thing I have gained an interest in is the neighbourhood watch meetings. I have attended the last two and found them very informative, at the first one the police were in attendance and they gave an incite into their activities regarding speeding on R.M.W, the recent anti social behaviour in and around Hurricane Grove, the respect day that was held in the open space. There was also a councilor present who listened to the general concerns that the residents who attended the meeting had and she gave her assurances that she would look into all issues raised. At the second meeting there was a presentation done by the fire service regarding the proposed new fire station that is to be built by Focus. Plans were also shown of the proposed new layout to the Focus roundabout plus a few other topics of interest.
I would just like to say to everybody keep supporting the web site, get involved with blogs and forums and don’t dismiss the Neighbourhood meetings attend at least one and give it a go. I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised to what can be achieved. If we all take an active interest in what is going on in and around the estate.
Thanks for your support
Thanks for your comments, your continued support, and campaigning to make the open space a better place.
Yours is a perfect example of someone doing something off your own back, and making the best use of this site to promote what your doing. Not for your own glory I might add, but because you live in a nice place and want it to stay that way.
NHW meeting and information
I was not able to attend the meeting due to holidays. I've checked through the mountain of post which arrived during my absence and did not receive any information or a questionaire. I'd still be interested in receiving the information, even though I realise it is a bit late to add my comments - electronically would be ok.
Survey attached.
Hiya, you should be able see the survey, in the original post at the top of the page, under the banner ad (feel free to click the ads as they help to fund the site)
The roundabout doesn't need modifications
I leave for work every day Monday to Friday, and I don't see any problems that have been posted on this web site.
Some people just can't stop poking their oar into everything.
I just want it to be know it's not in my name.
Guest
Thanks Guest, for your comments on this issue, it is good to hear that you have had no problems with this junction.
I hope when you filled the questionaire in you said this.
To me this is what this site is all about, people being able to air their views without recrimination.
Guest try to be brave next time and put your name to your post!!
Gordy
Questionaire
I didn't feel the need to fill it in, as there isn't a problem.
I'm sure most of the estate feel this way. In fact, leaving the estate has got easier over the past month.
If you want to do something, get rid of those motorbikes.
NHW
Guest, thanks for your comments, the issue regarding leaving the estate has been a long running issue as you may be aware, and although you personally have had no issues with this, i can assure you the police, highways department and our local concillors are fully behind the plans to alter the roadjunction.
It is not a slight on anybody who lives on the estates to be pro or against the issue, if you read the previous NHW minutes you will see that the issue was one of the most commonly discussed items by various people, so i do not agree with you on your comment that "most of the estate feel this way".
Where are motorbikes causing you an issue? If it is on the Openspace then please call the stoke on call number 01782 234234 and report the incidents, this is at the moment a hot issue with the local police.
Apathy in not filling in the questionaire is really no excuse, i was once told if you can't be bothered to vote then do not complain about decisions that are made.
Gordy
Road plans
Looking at the road plans above, you want to bottle neck traffic, that will make it much hard to leave the estate.
I can't wait, and when will this happen?
Plans
I cant see how it will cause a bottleneck as it it a dual carriageway above the roundabout and a dual carriageway below the roundabout.
The improvements are aimed at slowing drivers who are coming down RMW, speeding is a very real concern for the police on this road, as thay have previously had enforcement days on the roadway and the numbers of drivers caught speeding has been very high.
We as a NHW have dare i say a duty to act on what issues are raised by residents at the meetings. I am sure not all issues affect all residents as Hurricane Grove alleyway proved, but we will try where possible to improve aspects where we all feel need improving, and that these improvemnets benefit the majority.
As far as i am aware no date has been set for the start of the improvements.
You did not anwer the motorbike question any reason??
Please feel free to attend the next NHW meeting, it would be nice to put a face to the name!
Gordy
Some people just can't stop poking their oar into everything.
Dear Guest I find it quite sad that you need to ridicule people off the estate who are actually trying to make this estate a safer, cleaner and more pleasant place to live. I for one would like to congratulate you for being able to negotiate the roundabout and being able to enter and leave the estate without incident a view that is not shared by a number of residents.
I for one will continue to stick my oar in regarding issues of speeding vehicles on Reginald Mitchell Way, anti-social behavior and dog fouling ect, ect this is a pleasant estate to live on and it would be a shame if we were to let a minority of people who do not care about the estate spoil it for the majority of us that do.
In your recent post you have identified a problem with Motorbikes on R.M.W may I suggest that you stick your oar in and come along to the next Neighbourhood Watch meeting to voice your concerns about this problem then perhaps collectively as a group we could come up with a few suggestions that could possibly resolve the issue.
Bikes
Hi Gordy - my complaint was with the noise of the bikes racing, the sound was coming from the main road - very annoying.
I thought of phoning the police, but by the time they'd come out they'd be long gone.
Will your road plans stop the bikes.
Jean
Noise
Hello Jean, i wish we could help with the bike noise and dare i say car noise late at night, it seems to be a rat run from the A500 up to goldenhill and back.
They also seem to have a game where they see how many times they can get around a roundabout in 1 minute at full throttle.....
I will bring the issue up at the next meeting with Glynn or whichever police person attends.
Thanks
Gordy
openspace & Mini R/bout
Nice to see that after all the phonecalls and lobbying that the open space has been strimmed and mowed again, Perhaps they did not want it to overgrow again and break their mower, Also the mini roundabout got some TLC again this morning. Thanks to the council keep it up.
