Nuisance Motorcycles
Off-road motorcycles and mini-motos can be dangerous, as well as a nuisance, to members of the community. The concerns of the public In Tunstall have been heard by the local police and action has been taken to deal with this problem.
Across the Tunstall police area, between April and October, thirty-five off road bikes have been seized by the police. Many have now been crushed. Twenty other riders were warned about their behaviour. Enforcement will continue to deal with the problem.
If you are aware of any parents thinking of buying these machines as Christmas presents for their children, please advise them that off road motorcycles and mini-motos are classed as mechanically propelled vehicles. As such, to be used on a road (which includes a pavement) the rider must be 16 years old and have a driving licence and insurance. Moreover, it is illegal to use the machines on public land, including greeenways and parks.
