Residents in Tunstall can hopefully breathe a sigh of relief this summer, as local police take the initiative to stop misery being caused by the large number of off-road bikes being ridden in the area.

There has been an issue with youths racing around the local parks and other green areas of the town on unlicensed traillies and mini-motos for several years. This has brought local people to despair, through the intolerable noise, intimidation, the danger of being hit by one in public areas, as well damage to the parkland environment.

But police in Tunstall are now taking a ‘zero tolerance’ approach to riders of illegal off-road bikes. An operation targeting riders who abuse the town’s open spaces and greenways on off-road bikes is now underway. Officers have already seized eight bikes after mounting operations in Goldenhill and Norton.
