White Male Staffy Bull found on High Street

On Saturday 7th March, my ex rang me to tell me a dog had been apparently abandoned on the High Street, where the footpath comes through from the play area on Bankeyfields. Some children were desperately trying to hold it as it had no collar on. I came over with a lead and collar and waited until the police arrived. The policeman said they were going to take him to the PDSA in Stoke for a check up and then I assume transfer him to the City Dogs Home.

The dog was a white male staffy bull, I believe, not very old, possibly about 12 months. If anyone has lost a dog of this description please contact the City Dogs Home. However, the dog was extremely thin, in a quite distressed state, and had a few minor cuts on his legs and nose. He was very friendly, extremely good with the lads that were trying to stop him running onto the road.

I waited for about an hour or so with the lads that found him and then with the Policeman waiting for a van to transport the dog, and there was no sign of anyone looking for him. I would like to think he has just "got out" and not been dumped, but his condition tends to indicate the latter.

I strongly believe EVERY dog should be microchipped.

Sad

Good on the kids who tried to stop the dog from running off. I hope this has a happy ending.

Microchipping would only

Microchipping would only help when taken to the PDSA, police station etc, but you are right, at least his identity could then be confirmed, and there'd be no need for him to go to the dogs home.
We can identify any dog that has a virbac microchip within seconds, and any other manufactureres chips just need us to make a simple phone call. Again, their identity is found within 5 minutes.
Cats are equally likely to go missing (if not moreso, as they go out of their own accord), and microchipped cats are just as easy to identify.

Cost- £17.00 or free with 2 bags of Royal Canin!!
