Respect and Fun Day for Bankeyfields
Dear Residents.
On behailf of my colleagues, thanks to all who attended the meeting at The Rifleman last week. Sorry I couldn't make it, but hopefully I'll be free for the next meeting.
I've been given the forms that were filled in on the night, addressing what you consider to be the problems on the estate, and we will be doing our best to do something positive about your concerns.
We have arranged a Respect and Community event for Sunday 31st May 2009.
In the past, these events have been a great success, and have helped the community, as well as improving links between residents and the Police.
We will be in the neighbourhood from around midday in a Police Bus - you can't miss it - and will be available to chat and hand out advice should you want to come and see us. We are also able to hand out crime prevention items, such as property marking pens, shed alarms etc (funds permitting).
We're hoping to park the bus around the park area, to put it within easy reach of most residents.
We're also trying to liaise with other organisations, to ask if they can attend, such as "Street Games" workers, who will attend and organise games on the play area for local youths and children. I will give more details when I have more news.
These events usually go hand in hand with community issues. One of the problems highlighted was litter in the park, and a good way to address this and bring the community together is a Litte Pick, where the Police, local council Officers and residents (good event for kids to get involved in - supervised obviously) tidy the play area. We can provide "litter grabbers" and bags, and as a result the area gets tidied and kids get rewarded with activities. As I've mentioned, I'll let you know in due course what we've arranged, but hopefully it should be a fun event.
Let's just hope it's sunny!
Any further information, or suggestions, please get in touch
Glyn

Thank you
Thanks, Glyn for arranging this. If the Street Games people can attend, I'm sure some of the older kids in the area will love it. Do they also cater for younger children, as I think most of the kids on the estate fall into that age bracket (though not all)
I'll also add my thanks for
I'll also add my thanks for arranging this- excellent way of raising police profile for us, and also improve community spirit.
