The video footage of the speed monitors was shot on the 30th July 2009 at 16.30pm I concealed the camera on a tripod hidden in the hedge row and left it running for approximately 10 minuets. As you can see from the footage there is a hell of a lot of vehicles breaking the 40 m.p.h speed limit. My main concern is purely for safety, as the distance from the speed monitor to the roundabout and the junction off the estate is relatively short and as we are all too aware a lot of drivers fail to realize this. I honestly think that the only way forward to try and reduce the amount of cars speeding down this stretch of road would be, to have a working speed camera in operation purely on the grounds of safety for the residents entering and leaving the estate.

Yeah, my sentiments.
Even by pushing our exit forward, so we have a better view, you still have the problem of speeding vehicles hurtling down, and over the roundabout.
You've also got the issue of cars turning onto the estate from the a500 side, still having near misses as they break the flow of traffic from the high street.
I can see that the penny has finally dropped and the only way of sorting this problem is to have a speed camera fitted right by the 30 MPH sign. This is what we should all be working for.
How long has this been going on now?
For all the Police presence, mobile safety camera's, people hiding in bushes, volunteering for speed watch, visual speed signs...and speeding is just as bad today as ever.
This thing is costing tens of thousands of pounds and having very little impact!
The redesigning of the roundabout is going to be a total waste of money and will not cure the problem. Get a fixed safety camera in there, it is a win win.
It reduces speeding at the roundabout, and also brings in revenue for other road safety projects in the county.
Why should a road like Dividy Road in Stoke on Trent have about 9 cameras along its stretch and we can't have one ?
They could up root one of these cameras and stick it on the Reginald Mithchell?

What time of the day was this taken?
Hi Bryn
Thanks for doing this, was this taken in the afternoon before rush hour?
It would be interesting to see what the results would be during rush hour.
Also - how concealed were you, could you see people slowing down when they spotted you, before the sign.
