Entering the roundabout from focus

After a comment on another post about problems entering the roundabout from focus, I had to have a quick peak on the way home from work.

It was during rush hour so there was plenty of traffic. I found that the view was actually better than before as the junction jutted out more and I could see further down the road. Traffic even gave way from the high street side.

Has anyone else had any problems leaving the focus side, onto the roundabout?

DIY Stores

Why on earth would anyone want to go to Focus ?., Its a DIY store that means its going to cost you money and make you work,

We have just tried the

We have just tried the roundabout and yes your right visibility was better, but I think we were in the left lane the other day when the visibility wasn't very good and that is currently closed off.

Right lane of focus, and do you think it will be easier to cross

I'm sure I was in the right lane last night, although can't be sure. I'll try again later it will jog my memory which it was. Just out of interest your testing this in your people carrier?

I'm in the Ibiza, which is really low down compared to the other motor, so it will be a good little test.

Easier to cross?

Now that the junction coming down the road is two lanes across, and in the 30mph zone, who thinks it will be easier to cross the road? Who has tried it already (maybe you can't as there is to much road work construction in the way)

Yeah we were in our

Yeah we were in our Scenic.

As you wether it is easier to cross, I hope so as I like to walk that way round the back of focus and up Hollywall Lane to get the little one from school. But it is too dangerous to cross down there with two little ones at the moment.

Possibly

I went down and tried it, but it's hard to tell at the minute because of the cones.

I only got a fleeting view, but maybe some of the large roundabout should be cut back a little to allow for better visability.

It's nothing a good steam roller couldn't fix, or drivers sticking to the 30mph limit.

I'm also suprised they tackled that side of the road as we'd never mentioned it, but there was the incident where the driver had to be pulled out of his car (filmed by bryn) and then about a month ago the sign for sandyford became quite crooked one evening.

I think what the road planners had found that cars also sped very quickly over the roundabout, and wanted to slow them down to.

Now if anyone wants to go fast (straight over) they will have to cut someone up.

P.s how do you get to hollywall round the back of Focus?

You go up the hill towards focus and at the top there is a public footpath that brings you out on Hollywall Lane.

Thank you

Thanks for the tip, I tried to find it walking my lad home from Golden Hill Primary the other week, but couldn't see the path, so I just assumed they'd built the new distributions centre on top of it.

I bet it can shave at least 10 minutes off your trip?

Paddock Fence

I hope the Paddock fence that was taken down by the contractors is replaced soon other wise we could have some unwelome visitors pitched there.

I noticed the contractors

I noticed the contractors put the fence posts back up after they cleaned up all the rubbish, but after coming home today from the school run it looks like someone has since removed them again. Does anyone know if possibly there is more work away to be done or is something more worrying to worry about.

Stone, Signs and Single Lanes

On Sunday I noticed that there were a lot of large stones left in the paddock.

I thin the lane restructure has worked reasonably well, however one criticism I have over project is the fact that no work has been done in terms of signage. As Tony just said, maybe they've not finished. But I was expecting a bit more to be made out of lyme painting on the road, and maybe lengthen the 30 zone.

Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for the work done, but I think it needs to go that little bit further.

Lastly, just an observation on Stoke drivers. After watching a couple of cars go by from focus on sunday (yes Steve - focus, if your unsure where it is ask ccna99, apparently he's knows exactly where it is) and the contractors might as well just turned the roundabout into one lane as the number of cars that used both was silly.

We tried.
