Is Newfeild street next to the newsagents?
He was Daniel Bromley, aged 20, of Metcalfe Road in Stanfields.
Mr Bromley died at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire after initial treatment at the scene by paramedics.
His family are being supported by family liaison officers.
Staffordshire Police are now piecing together Mr Bromley's last movements.
He was a passenger in a blue Rover vehicle, which is believed to have left The Red Lion public house, High Street, Goldenhill, in the early hours of Sunday morning, travelling in the direction of Tunstall.
The vehicle was then in collision with a tree and parked vehicle in High Street, Tunstall, near to its junction with Newfield Street at around 2.30am.
All three emergency services were called to the scene and the road was closed for several hours while officers from the force's collision investigation unit carried out an examination of the scene.
Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Sergeant Matthew Bennion at Staffordshire Police on 0300 1234455.
Sgt Bennion is also appealing for anyone who was in The Red Lion late on Saturday night, and may have seen Mr Bromley, to come forward.
He is also keen to hear from anyone who witnessed how the vehicle was being driven from Goldenhill to Tunstall.
Police have arrested a 26-year-old man from the Birches Head area and a 37-year-old woman from the Sandyford area on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
They are currently detained at the force's Northern Area Custody Facility at Etruria.

Driver denies causing death
BANNED motorist Martin Hampton has denied causing the death of Daniel Bromley by dangerous driving.
The 26-year-old defendant, of Hammersley Street, Birches Head, pleaded not guilty to causing Mr Bromley's death in High Street, Tunstall, on June 7. He admitted driving a Rover 420 car while disqualified.
Judge Granville Styler, sitting at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, adjourned the case for a trial on November 30.
Mr Bromley, aged 20, of Metcalfe Road, Stanfields, was a passenger in a car which collided with a tree and a parked car.
