I have just witnessed a gritting lorry doing two turns around the mini roundabout, proving our council has grit, and they do care for us.

I dread to think what the substitute is

Any ideas what they're using as a substitute for true grit is, as they said they ran out of grit and had a limited supply of table salt and salt sellers?
