Saturday night glass throwing teenagers cause trouble on the Bankeyfields Park
After a series of incidents in the Bankeyfields openspace and park including bottle smashing vandalism to the park, pretty loud screaming and shouting, and just generally being pain in the arses, I called the police/council anti-social hotline 0800 561 5610. I'd had a few complaints brought to my attention during the evening, with one chap asking the kids smashing bottles on the pavements being asked to respect the park.
Making the call
Well that advice wasn't taken and at about 10pm after I heard a few bottles breaking I called the Anti-Social hotline number 0800 561 5610 who should then log the call and taken the necessary action.
I explained what I'd heard, and what had been reported to me, and was asked by the operator if this was an on going problem. I'd said yes, and was then asked why I hadn't called the police.
I'd been advised to use this hotline by our local AIT officer, who'd even given leaflets to be posted in the area, so when asked should I not ring this number, I was then told, Yes, you should, we then phone the police in your behalf.
Because bottle throwing is more anti social behaviour than a crime emergency, I'm still going to ring this number in the future because the incidents still need reporting so someone somewhere realises there's a problem, and residents in the area are getting peed off.
Staffs Police phoned up some time later, and I explained the on going problem, and what I heard, and had, had reported and was given a incident number: 93003042010 and told the police will be out.
Sometime later the kids where still there and the noise was really loud, and it got event louder, as though someone was trying to take the park apart.
The police did then turn up, after another concerned resident called in the problems (I won't name them, but thanks for all of your help).
Basically if we don't start reporting loud, obnoxious and anti-social behaviour from this crowd then they are going to think it's their right to break glass and destroy the park.
We know what they're doing, and saying "They aren't doing any harm" isn't good enough any more.
Just think of it this way, if you don't call the problem in and a kid or animal injures themselves on the park because of glass or ragged cans then your going to feel pretty crappy about yourself.

Council working on a Sunday?!
Have just looked out the kitchen window and shock horror mini road / pavement sweeper has been around the outside of the park area, only saw him by the bridge that leads to Summerbank school so not sure whether he has cleaned all the park / foortpaths or just the bit by the bridge / steps.
I was rather shocked to actually see someone out working on a Sunday and from the council as well.
Apologies to any readers that happen to work at the council.
If we hear anything we to will report it to the ASBO line, but the trouble causers this time must have been further down the park end than our end as didn't hear a thing this time.
Happy Easter to all
bottles
i picked the emptys up last week, in the morning when i took my kids up,luckily they were still intacted..
Reporting Anti-Social Behaviour
It only takes a couple of minutes to report acts of anti-social behaviour; it is a free phone number and very discreet. It only takes two or three phone calls and the police will be out as was proved on Saturday night. This is our park let’s not let these scum bags ruin it for the majority of kids who use the park for the purpose it was built for.
FERAL YOUNSTERS.
We have the same problem on the Hoskins estate, the Police are pushed to the limit as all they can do is warn them off, and todays feral youngsters know the law better than the police and push it to the limits.
The only answer is punishment, but hey not allowed to punish "it against their Human Rights".
Will the council remove this scum from or estates and put a five mile ban on these fom inhabiting an area of decent people?
NO, "they have a duty to house them" (allbeit not near where they live) as the decent law abiding have no rights do they?
On the Hoskins estate we have had fires lit in skips, mattresses burnt on the football pitch, children burnt with lighters, hedges broken down, bricks thrown at windows, broken windows, all the ground floor windows broken, and EDL (allthough the perpatrators had nothing whatsoever to do with the EDL) sprayed all over the lower floor.
As of as yet no one charged for any of these crimes.
What more must be done to put an end to this vandalism?
Are we to watch a funeral before action is taken?
I checked the park, toddler area full of glass
These idiots show no consideration for others, when they break glass across the pavements. But to break the amount of glass in the entrance and around the climbing frame in the park, shows there complete lack of respect and decency.
What we need is for our Council to make a city wide ban on drink in parks. Parks are for kids, drink of any sort doesn't have a place in parks. If you want to drink and play on a swing, get yourself down to a beer garden.
The laws of too soft, and tied up in red tape, that as Terry says, that nothing can be done to protect the innocent, which in this case is going to be some little kid or animal whose going to get maimed.
I hope the community can give this problem some time and support. If you want to have your say, sign up, login and have your say, Because we'll get nowhere with just a few complaints.
Lets kick these idiots off the park once and for all.
Web Monkey, well said,but I
Web Monkey, well said, but I fear we will be talking about this subject again and again.
While not a beleiver in vigilante justice, the prospect is looking more and more appealing.
When our old, and infirm people are too scared to leave their homes for fear of personal harm or abuse its time to call an halt to it.
We are talking about 14 and 15 year old wannabe gansters, or to put it simply feral scumbags.
The Police are doing a great job (but cannot be everywhere at once) hampered by having their hands tied behind their backs by a politicaly correct unfair system.
How many times have you heard someone say "when I was a lad a copper would clip you round the ear if you did anything wrong, then take you back to your parents and you would get another good hiding from your father" but nowadays the feral youth intimidate elders because they know the law, and their feral parents, is on their side, in our topsy turvy justice system.
The sad part of all of this is the good kids suffer every time because all the resources are poured into causes for these minority scumbags.
Any one with any solutions, apart from birching, stocks and ducking in the Trent.
All of which I would approve.
PC Underwood from Tunstall police
PC Underwood from Tunstall police station rung to say that thanks to the calls, they were able to gather more evidence on a know trouble maker, which will go some way towards punishing this troubled young lad.
