The Community Payback scheme is a scheme whereby offenders are sentenced to work in the community. It is unpaid: offenders are supervised and learn new skills: nobody makes a profit. In the year to March, 2008 over 140,000 hours work were completed in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

The projects in Stoke-on-Trent this week are:-

Ongoing:

Stoke - Campbell Road, growing produce for the community and clearing the overgrown allotments.
Longton - groundwork at Florence Miners Welfare Club
Longton - sorting donated items at the Help The Aged Charity Warehouse
Hanley - making garden furniture at the Broom Street Community Payback workshop
Various charity shop work placements.
New Works:

Tunstall - external decoration of Goldenhill Community Hall
Longton Park - maintenance
Milton - re-construction of nature area at Milton Primary School
Hartshill - internal decoration of Scout Hall
Harshill - painting railings of Limes allotment
Blurton - construction of allotment for handicapped users at the Social Service allotment.
If any member knows of an organisation or group which has a project that might be suitable for inclusion in the Community Payback programme, please speak to Graeme Drayton on 01782 233552
