Tunstall Business Directory upgrades
Over the past year and a half, since the Business Directory was put in place, there has been a minor take up people adding their businesses.
I've started to make some major mods to the business directory, one of those being the ability for a business to be able to display a map on their listing page.
The other major updates for the business directory is that it comes in two flavours. The first is the one you've always had, and can be seen here.
The second is a new view, which will only show a listing with a map location embedded into it (I just need to go through the directory and update the ones that haven't). You can see the map view here, this map shows all businesses, people, and services.
You can access the map from the directory dropdown in the main menu across the top of the site. The initial page asks you to pick a category which then, if businesses are found, shows you a map with those businesses on.
It's still early days for the map, but it will get better, and I will be adding more content shortly (if anyone wants to lend a hand please let me know - the take away food side of this will be brilliant when it's done.)
One of the main reason for a local business to add a link to the directory is so that companies website gets a valid and strong link back to it. Sites linking from Bankeyfields do tend to get pushed up the rankings, especially if they are local and relevant.
The other reason is it's free, but the condition is businesses do have to be local to Tunstall and the surrounding towns, we don't want too much spam on the site.
