I've just had a meeting with Cllr Ryan and Jill Clarke from the the councils NIT team, to look at the problems happening in the park.

As it happens we'd just missed a situation where a youth of about 16 had brought his staffordshire bull into the park and let it foul all over the place. When a couple of mums came to the park, the guy did have a bit of common sense and was quoted as saying "I best put him on a lead". Muppet.

A team will be around in the morning to do a tidy up. In the long term, Megan and Jill will be going away and getting in touch with a few agencies, but have asked residents for our help to try to pinpoint when this is happening, so we can start to fine those involved, a ram a message where it hurts.

We should also be seeing a lot more of the councils patrol warden whose job it is to fine anyone whose animal mess isn't cleaned away.

When high fences were discussed and late night drinking and vandalism, Cllr Ryan wanted to first pursue the police line first, by involving the local anti social squad, whose job it is to keep unruly teenagers in line.

Residents, especially those who spot any light night activity will be urge to call out the car, so the Anti Social squad can investigate. Were not talking about getting people arrested, but trying to stop the constant damage ad dangerous littering of broke glass that's been seen going on in the park.

Quick update about the park and drinking going on there

Jill Clarke, Area Implementation Team Officer - Northern AIT / Housing, Environmental and Neighbourhood Services to give her full title, who came with Megan yesterday has asked Tunstall Police for a closer eye being kept on the park today, so we don't have to see the likes of last weekends anti social behaviour and damage.

CCTV

Is it possible to get CCTV installed within the park area?

This could then be used by the police to bring those responsible to justice.

CCTV (cost)

CCTV in the park would be a great idea but in reallity I do not think the police or council would have the money to cover the cost. All we need is for the fence to be made higher and gates that can be locked after dark. The only reason why the teenagers hang around on the weekends is because the park gives them a place to sit around drinking, if we can stop them from doing this they will move on.
