Two recent scams forwarded to me by Stoke-on-Trent City Council are:

The Chinese Bank Manager's Letter which says that a person with your surname has died intestate and a claim can be made on his estate for millions of dollars. The letter's recipient is asked to respond by telephone or fax. Ignore it. You will be asked for bank details.

PDF Parcel Services. Cards are left at premises stating that a parcel was to be delivered. You are asked to call PDF parcel services for further information. The call will be at a premium rate and cost £15. This is an old scam that I have broadcast before. The scam is now centred in the Seychelles.
