What is Lymphoedema?

Lymphoedema is a swelling that develops as a result of a damaged or impaired lymphatic system. It can affect any part of the body but is most commonly seen in an arm or a leg. Although thought to be relatively uncommon, it is thought that at least 100,000 people in the UK may be affected by Lymphoedema.

It is a life-long condition with no known cure but, with treatment it can be contained.

The group was founded in February 2010 as a place for people with Lymphoedema, their relatives, friends and carers to meet and chat with people in a similar situation as themselves.
