Tony Duncan explained to the meeting that he has stepped down from his role as Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator to spend more time renovating steam engines for a preservation society. Notwithstanding this, he wants to continue to persue the issues concerning the Reginald Mitchell Way and attend these meetings as the Reginald Mitchell Way Co-ordinator.
We all expressed our thanks for Tony’s work to date and welcomed his decision to continue on this very important issue.
Tony Duncan gave an update on the situation and explained that a letter from the acting Council Manager had indicated that the construction of a Toucan Crossing would start towards the end of this financial year or early next.
Tony Duncan took issue over this to David Mercer who is the Acting Assistant Director Regeneration and Heritage, who has now confirmed in a letter dated the 17th August 06, the construction of the crossing is due to commence in this financial year. The crossing will be located near the High Street roundabout. The meeting thanked Tony Duncan for his very determined efforts on this issue.
